Oprah ate my inner skinny person.

  • Popular Post

Hi, my name is Katie and I'm a marketing professional who really hates Oprah's weight loss journey. It's like she's lost and gained the same 80 pounds over and over. That's like several inner skinny people (weight watcher's ad). The fact that I've done the same only makes me hate her more. Actually, I like Oprah. I just despise diet advertising of any kind. Nothing like making me feel worthless and hopeful all in the same 30 second spot.

Hi, my name is Katie and I finally reached my breaking point. I've finally accepted that my obesity is hurting my quality of life. I've finally given myself permission to do something about it. (Besides crazy diets that never work). In fact, it was Oprah's recent Advertisment on WW that inspired me. After watching her rejoice over her recent weight loss with WW while still eating bread, I thought to myself, "daaaammmn, if Oprah can't keep it off with all her millions and access to the best personal chefs and physical trainers, a hometown girl like me is doooomed."

So here I am, 1 week from my consultation, drinking a gin and tonic, ordering Chinese take out and righteously shaking my fist at the diet industry. One week, Oprah! One week and I will show you and the diet industry that I love myself enough to make the most radical life changing decision of my life!!!!!!!

Good for you! What is driving me crazy is the Body acceptance trend. Showing all kinds of morbidly obese people naked and saying I'm normal absolutely nothing is wrong with me! You must accept being fat and damnit you must be happy. Well guess what my fat does not make me happy! And NO I will not wear your crop top that enhances my fat. The body acceptance movement is what pushed me to get surgery! 3/16/16. Because I didn't want to be that person anymore, I didn't want to weigh more than my husband who is 6'1 or have asthma or avoid places where I would feel exposed like the lake or a water park. I just said no to MY FAT ACCEPTANCE! [emoji5] sorry rant over!!

Katie you hit the nail on the head!!! Oprah is the reason I decided to do this too. But because she jacked up weight watchers. I was pissed off at the changes and decided it was time to do something else, something that I had control over something that might actually work. Best of luck to you!

Amen Katie! Every time Oprah says she can't go a day without her bread, I think WW isn't going to keep her excess weight off.

I remember when Oprah came out on her stage wearing her skinny jeans and wagon full of plastic fat to show how much she lost on her liquid Protein diet. Then a few months later admitting to eating a cheeseburger in her hotel room and feeling guilty. God bless Oprah, but I don't think WW will work in the long run either, but she'll be a bit richer for it, eh.

Welcome aboard.

Even with a 10% stake in WW and being on their board of directors, Oprah is having a tough time making the program work for her.
Too bad she couldn't be the spokesperson for the ASMBS.

Diet programs are big money makers.

And Oprah is in the money-making business.

That is all there is to it.

Hilarious post. My surgeon actually used her as an example in the intro class I took. Basically, if WW and a personal chef/trainer/etc can't help her keep it off, that says something. It definitely does, but what does she care? She's making tons of money, and we all keep falling for it.

Not anymore.
