Hey there! And congratulations! I would follow the doctor's preoperative instructions. My surgeon had me take Multivitamins, drink three Premier Protein drinks a day, and all the green veggies (steamed or cooked). However, each doctor is different.

I had a very, very rough surgery to the point that they almost had to back out. they found out my intestines were stuck to my abdominal wall(?) while they were in there, so it didn't give them much wiggle room. I ended up having a 6.5 hour surgery instead of 4, and I had to stay in the hospital an extra night. I'm home now, and I feel amazing 9 days post op. the first 4 were rough, but after that I felt back to normal. I'm down 40 lbs since my 2 week pre op diet, and I'm losing every day.

@@Titaniumsleeved2014 I wish you the best!

is anyone else post-op having issues with not feeling full? they said they removed the part of my stomach that "makes you feel hunger" but my stomach still growls and I'm hungry. for only being able to eat 3-5 oz, I feel like I can eat so much more than that. it's making me nervous. other people have told me they're full after two or three bites.

Just an update! Had my surgery on Wednesday (they didn't get started til late). The hope was to go home yesterday, but I still hadn't passed any gas and was having a good deal of pain. This gas pain in the belly area is NO JOKE. But it's getting better and I hope to go home this morning.

No hunger at all, just some thirst. I'm already over Gatorade. lol

Overall, better than I expected.

Also: morphine didn't help much for me. The Dilaudid worked a little better. The pump has been stopped and I'm now on liquid painkiller.

Hey, my surgery was Wednesday as well they still have me on the pain pump although I rarely use it. My gas pains have been pretty bad too, I've been doing a lot walking but I've also been nothing by mouth until yesterday afternoon they started me on ice chips and popcicles... I have absolutely no appetite.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
