What's everyone eating for thanksgiving?

@@Kindle o my gosh! Sorry to hear about your gallbladder. The timing kinda sucks.

Hey, thanks. It's really no big deal. The timing was my idea. I was lucky to find a good surgeon willing to do an elective surgery the day before a holiday. I also scheduled my VSG five days before Christmas (2013) and spent Christmas and New Years sipping on Protein shakes. I don't get PTO/sick leave, so I gotta take advantage of the holidays for time off when I can.

I will be on my ten day pre-surgery diet, but the surgeon and NUT said i could have a little lean turkey, nonstarchy veggies and a carb (fruit or potato). I'm happy with that. I thought I was going to eat NOTHING but my Protein shake...

I'm going to be cooking dinner for my husband's family. I've already promised that I won't try to substitute weird diet versions of Thanksgiving recipes. :) I plan on having a small piece of turkey breast with gravy, and a bite each of green bean casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce--in that order, so I get a taste of my favorites if I get full. Not sure if I'll have a bite of dessert or not--if it's not chocolate, I don't care that much.

Turkey! I am making the Cauliflower mock baked potato Casserole as a side dish to take. I love cranberry with turkey so that is a given! But my Mom makes it homemade... and it is wonderful.

For me the secret is 'just a taste' of the things I really like, but sit down & have it on a (small) plate all as a meal......the remnants of my old 'dayly graze' remain too influential.

And while home made sour dough herbal stuffing is great, I prefer a spoon or 2 of gravy.

I too prefer a little seafood rather than turkey...but in a pinch, a little thin slice of prime rib will do.

We used to go to friends for a 4 hour multi-too much feast of multiple everything.

Now a small salad plate with a mini taste of the choices really satisfies.

We better go out and get our cauliflower now.....cuz it looks like there will be a rush on it this year as a substitute for potatoes!!

That's OK, that means more leftover potatoes for me!

2 oz turkey, 2T mashed sweet potato, 2T stuffing, 1T gravy, 1T cranberry sauce. then in about 1 hour 2T pumpkin pie(just the filling). i found some gingerbread spice herbal tea that reminds me of mulled cider, but without all the calories and sugar. that, and the chance to be truly thankful for the MANY BLESSINGS that i have this year, will be on my thanksgiving plate!

Yeah... I was told to avoid bread, especially moist bread, and sugar. But there seem to be a lot of people who will be enjoying stuffing and various Desserts.

And cranberry sauce

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
