What are you eating?

Recommended Posts

Went to my 7 week post op appointment today and the dr and I think I'm eating too much sodium and retaining fluids. What is everyone eating? I really need some fresh ideas! What does your typical day look like? How much are you eating and how many cal, carbs, Protein, etc are you eating a day? I didn't have to meet with a NUT since I'm self pay so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Snack: reduced fat Colby jack cheese string

Lunch: 1 oz almonds, 1 oz diced deli meat

At 2 months I think I was at about 700 calories a day. A common goal is 80 g Protein and less than 40 g carbs.

I was drinking 2 Protein drinks a day (often 1 in place of breakfast) 3 tiny meals and 2 Snacks. A typical day would be: Syntrax Cappuccino for Breakfast, 2 oz of cottage cheese snack, chicken salad for lunch, Sliced turkey breast lunch meat or string cheese snack, and Tilipia with 2-3 bites of veggie for supper. I usually had a second Protein Drink around 8 or so.

I didnt really start eating much veggies until around 3-4 month, just because my capacity for food was so small. Now I do my meals about half Protein and half veggies, and have a Protein Drink if my protein is looking low for the day.

My day starts very early so on my way to work(5am) I eat 1 baby bell cheese

Around 8 I have 1 scrambled egg white and I can never finish it.

Around 11:30 I have half a veggie patty and some Pickle slices

snack around 2:30 is usually a string cheese or some cashews

dinner around 6pm is 2 cucumber slices with chive and onion cream cheese and deli turkey on top

I'm only three weeks out and I was advised to eat between 500 to 600 calories. I do this by eating 2 eggs for Breakfast, 2 oz chicken for lunch, and 2 oz salmon for dinner. For a snack I have 5.3 oz vanilla Greek yogurt. I also get I 8 oz of Unjury chicken Soup which has 21 grams Protein. I end my day with 74 grams protein and 570 calories. I hope this helps.

Pre-surgery I took a diuretic for high blood pressure. Drs at discharge told me I could stop diuretic. But then I got swollen hands and feet and started gaining weight. I started back on my diuretic and now everything's back to normal. So if you stopped a diuretic that might be a problem creating Fluid retention.

Oddly enough, I can eat a boiled egg, but scrambled/fried/omelette are all a no go for my sleeve! eggs and I have a tenuous relationship so I never eat more than one just for that reason :)

I'm about 6 weeks out. Breakfast: 2 oz oatmeal with skim/lactose free milk, half a scrambled egg. Lunch: 2-3 oz tuna fish with light mayo on 3-4 whole wheat crackers. Dinner: zucchini spaghetti and sauce, or broiled fish with vegetables, or homemade brown rice and lentils - no more than 1/2 cup of whatever. My night binges are hard to beat so I have 2 oz of Greek yogurt with Splenda shortly before going to bed. I'm doing ok, losing somewhere around 2-3 lbs a week.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
