When did your head hunger start being a challenge?

Recommended Posts

So I am almost 4 months out. The first few months I felt a little like super woman with my ability to say no to food and stay on the straight and narrow. In the last two weeks that has all changed. I am sure it is head hunger, but I have started craving more food (i.e. Carbs and sweets). I am curious when it kicked in for others...

Almost 4 mos post-op & it hasn't kicked in for me (yet). Hope it never does! Curious to see what others say too.

It was challenging for me at first, I got ill the first few times after I was back on solids, but I quickly learned to listen to my stomach and not my head for awhile and by the 4th day I felt great after I ate, I can now use bothy head and stomach to distinguish between thirst and hunger, I also cannot go past 4oz of food, 3 months out and I can safely cheat once a month without wanting more than that, I do get weird cravings, last week it was Oysters and Tang, this week it has been grilled sausage and homemade Lemonade, so I guess I am weird......

Pretty much from day one for me. Now it's very off and on, and unfortunately this week has been very "on". I'm having a lot of cravings this week for some reason and fighting them hard! My family was making smores tonight, and luckily I only took a bite of one. But those Graham crackers are calling my name!

Usually I'm pretty good at resisting and not craving that stuff. But as soon as I give in, I crave more! That's why it's just easier for me to just stay away from it.

I get head hunger like a crazy animal every month for a week or so. I just give in a lil and then move on. I'm not going to throw my whole body or plan out of wack. So I have a tiny bit and move on and if I really pig out I just go to the gym the next day and work it off and realize I can't do that cause I've worked too hard and come to far for THAT other person "me" to go back to where I was. Stay strong!

I am nearly 4 months out and sweet cravings have hit hard along with all the self loathing that comes with it when I indulged. Ho hum. I do feel proud that I started the next day back on the horse and exercised a lot. This would never have happened pre surgery so I must have learnt something!

I so agree! Labor Day weekend didn't help. ????. Oh well... I do like the way things are fitting, I am trying to focus on that.

I am.6.5mnths post-op & my cravings started about 4-5mnths post-op. I would have a bite of whatever I crave & move on...otherwise I'll binge & spend the day grazing. And I drink Water & tea when I crave & have already had my bite. Good luck ????

The very first 2 weeks were super hard with head hunger then - like you - nothing seemed to bother me and I could say no to anything with ease. I remember distinctly somewhere right around 7 months post op it's like something clicked in my head and the old struggles were back. It was at that point that I sought out therapy because I knew that I was dealing with emotional food issues more than anything.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
