Sleeve tomorrow. Any words of confidence from those who have done it.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

My surgery is at 10:15 AM in New Jersey tomorrow morning. I am beyond excited but I'm also pretty nervous and scared. Are there any words of confidence that you all want to share? It would be very greatly appreciated. ☺️

I had mine done a week ago today!! And I feel great!! First 3 days aren't so bad, I had a morphine clicker so felt no pain :) the first 24hrs suck because you can only have water/ice but after that I found it pretty good!! I got to leave hospital a day early too!

Good luck! Surgery is always scary but it is worth it to get to the "losers bench!"

I was worried the night before surgery, too. I am so glad I didn't talk myself out of it. It's one of the best things I've ever done for my health. I've been off all diabetes medications since the surgery (in May 2014) and all my labs are good. When I think back to where I was year and a half ago, more than 100 lbs overweight, unable to walk around the block, and in pain most of the time, I shudder. Now I'm walking, dancing, and riding a bike. Pretty much whatever I want to try, I can do it.

Once you get beyond the first few difficult weeks, you, too will be telling yourself that you're glad you didn't back out. And when you reach your goal weight, you'll come back here and tell your story to another nervous newbie.

Congrats!! Welcome to the loser's bench!! I'm probably a little late, but my best advice is - to try not and be nervous! Believe it or not, I wasn't the slightest bit nervous when I went into surgery! I didn't have any complications, what-so-ever, and it didn't take long for me to recover! I was off of pain meds in two days after being released from the hospital.

Good luck to you, and wish you all well on your recovery!!

You'll do great!! Everyone's experience is different...I woke up with major gas pain but my friend had the same surgery and had none! So if you wake up with pain, just remember the best thing you can do is walk, walk, walk!! The couple of days of pain is so worth it!!

@@my_new_lifetime - just like @@finediva said "enjoy the great nap and wake up to your new birthday"

relax and do what they tell you at the hospital. walk as much as possible, hydrate and try to get off pain meds and go OTC as soon as possible.

Happy Birthday!

Hope you are doing well. I was sleeved the 27th also in New Jersey. I had a bit of a rough time because I also had a hiatal hernia repair but as I start a new week things are getting easier. Take time to rest, sip, walk and think about your outcome to be! Welcome to the losers bench!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
