I'm in BC!! How are things going on your end? I've started my oh Fishel three-week preop diet 1200 cal or less high-protein high vegetables low-fat and extremely little carbs, I lost 15 pounds in three weeks by just kind of following it the pre op, getting used to it lol!

I had the scope down my throat two weeks ago and ended up horribly ill for a week after now I'm on pills to help with the severe acid in my stomach but Dr. said surgery was ago I go in for my preop on August 7 and then hopefully I'll get the time to be at the hospital on the 20!!!!!

I'm hopping for the RNY but if for some reason my liver is to big the dr will do the sleeve!! I really want the RNY, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter I just need this to help me that going!

To everyone else out there how are your preop diets going any struggles??

Hey ladies!

I'm wondering who out there has a family to cook for and is doing or is starting a pre op diet? This is going to be hard, I don't know how this is going to work, it's going to be super hard!! My problem is not the food as much as it's the flavor!! I love big bold flavors!!! And it sucks cus I'm not aloud any spices or salt or pepper!! I can have Greek yogurt for Breakfast about 1 cup, fat free Soup for lunch 1 cup and 3 wasa crackers

And dinner is 3 cup Lettus and 1 cup spinach, cucumber and tomatoes and 4 oz chicken Breast or pork loin and LOTS of water!!! ????

I am feeling you lol. I just started my pre-op diet and I cook for a large family of 9. Tomorrow will be my first full day of the pre-op diet and I have surgery in exactly two weeks. I don't know how I am going to make it to be honest but I am determined to do this. My surgeon doesn't allow any solid food. I get 3 Protein Shakes a day and am allowed 64 ounces of clear fluids which can include sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jello and low sodium broth one cup a day. That's it... When is your surgery?

I have a family too!! They are eating the same as me... low fat meat and veggies are healthy for the entire family !! Of course if someone else makes dinner, I just chew my food slowly, and remember how bad I want to lose weight, how bad I want to be healthy, and focus on that. It gets me past wanting the CRAP they are eating...

@@Niki15 I guess as ready as I can be. I'm still nervous, still ask myself if I really want to do this.... Yet still think it's my best option. Other days I'm excited and can't wait.

I haven't lost much but then again I've cheated. I'm not pigging out but have been eating normal food just smaller portions. I guess because I wasn't asked to be on a liquid diet, it was more a suggestion from the doc. I did it steady 1 week and only lost 4lbs on 2 Protein Shakes and 1 lean cuisine meal a day and then I stopped. I will start again today through Sunday and then an all liquid day Monday.

I don't really worry because I did the same thing when I was banded and did great afterwards keeping with health foods.

I am glad you are doing great, keep up the great work. Knowing how much you lost makes me wish I would have stuck by it.

So how are you, are you ready?

Ready as can be. Not looking forward to throwing up or getting something stuck thats my only concern .But I will follow instruction to the tee as I want the best result possible. I will not put my body thru this just to end up fat again .. I will reach my goal and then get my mommy makeover ..I am determined and will stay that way ....

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
