I too purchased the Enspira, although I never felt that I had to. During the pre-op diet I tolerated the Enspira, but didn't find it that great. However, after the surgery, I have found that all the other Protein powders I have bought are too sickening sweet for me now and I really like the Enspira because it isn't too sweet for me.

Exactly! I found I could not tolerate sweet after surgery. also I could make it thin with Water and not lose the Protein. the others were so sweet and thick. They made me ill.

Totally off subject, but has anyone heard from IndigoChild?  She was having some trouble back in mid December and I haven't seen her post since.  Worried about her!

Last time I got a message was Dec 27 and she was not feeling well and was asking about Raven and I and how we were doing. I messaged her around New Years to check on her, but she doesn't come on here that often either. I'm concerned too! :) Hopefully she'll log on soon.

To my fellow OCC sisters in weight loss.....I hit my weight loss goal this morning!!!!!

I'm not able to communicate the appreciation I have for each of you sharing your struggles/concerns/victories on this forum. On the days when I am not at my best, simply reading your posts helps me get my mind right again. Thank you thank you for your funny stories and encouragement.

It's so motivating to watch each of you achieve your goals, whip your demons, and unleash your inner "skinny-bitch".

Cheers to you all and THANK YOU for just being here.

i have my surgery scheduled for this coming friday the 24th! i was determined to make a change and booked it in less than a week, did a lot of research and looked at every possible info on gastric plication. i made my deposit and booked my flight no turning back! ill be paying the surgery with my savings (6500$!). it a lot of money for me but im investing it in myself to feel better and happier with my my body. my current weight is 207 pounds (5'7) and BMI of 32.4 my goal weight is 135 pound, a good 70 pound to loose! when i spoke to carolyn she told me that the pre op diet was not really necessary for me, but i need to try to get closer to the 200 pound mark, so loose arround 5 pounds.

ill be traveling alone from Canada (am I crazy to do that?!) arriving on thursday the 23r in mexico and leaving sunday morning at noon. Really hope my surgery will go smoothly coz i have to be at work monday morning!

WY the surgery now? starting a new job, want to make a complete change in 2014 and really want to make things happen. Ive been reading all your post and its been really encouraging for me :)

wish me luck! on the road to a new me :)

Congratulations Lila on your decision and best wishes for safe travels. And you are NOT crazy for going alone! I think a lot of people go from Canada alone. I would have been absolutely fine alone. You will get lots of rest not worrying about anyone else. When you go, you will be in a group that morning and kind of mingle that morning. You'll also be with the same people daily- sharing the same nerves and the same happiness when it's over and you're ok!

Lila - congrats on taking charge of your weight! You will do fine alone. There are many that go solo. I was at OCC last Feb 4 and have lost 92 lbs...my stats are sort of close to yours - 5'8" with a starting weight of 237. The staff at the OCC are top notch. I had a friend with me the day of surgery only. After she left, I recovered by myself and traveled home alone. The only suggestion I have is that you may still be pretty tired when you return to work since your will have surgery, little caloric intake and travel. Good luck and be sure to let us know how it goes!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
