Hey everyone!

I work a job that has me running around the city all day and rarely allows me the chance to stop and warm up my lunch. What Protein filled fast food options have you all turned to in crunch time?

Right now my go to is Chic-fila's grilled nuggets (8 count)....

None. They are too high in sodium for me. Why not get an insulated bento instead? I used one when I did community base social services. I used to even make a miso Soup that all I had to do was buy some hot Water to add to it.

Other than Dunkin Donuts coffee, fast food are a very rare occurrence for me even in small portions.

Chick Filet: Grilled Nuggets (I can usually only eat 4) or chicken Tortilla Soup.

Wendy's: Chili

Chipotle: Kid's meal with meat, double Beans, no rice.

Sub Place: Have them make it on a salad

Panda Express: Small Teriyaki Chicken, kid's meal over veggies

Panera: French Onion Soup

I usually try to carry cheese sticks, almonds, beef Jerky, olives (I have a weird craving for them constantly), ham and cheese roll ups, Protein bars. I'm not much of a fast food person and I hate spending money on something I won't want the leftovers of but that I can't finish.

I also keep nuts and Protein bars in the glove compartment. Another option might be deli's and supermarket salad bars.

Fast food isn't a regular for me, but I can eat a 1/2 cup of Wendy's chili and be satisfied. Also, 5 chicken nuggets will do and I'm done. Even though I have a desk job, the "convenience" foods I keep on hand are Simms beef jerky (Aldi's), Fit and Active chocolate Peanut Butter Protein bars (Aldi's), cheese sticks, peanut butter, Babybel minis, boiled eggs, 4 oz. servings frozen of whatever I make, and 4 oz. 2% cottage cheese, and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken flavor Protein powder. I focus on getting my protein in first and then think about adding veggies and/or fruit, which is what I was instructed to do by my surgeon and NUT. @@LipstickLady and @BLERDgirl have made some great suggestions.

Never leave home unprepared for the day; it makes it too easy to fall into some old, not good habits.

I really do want to try to avoid fast food because I know it is not the healthiest for me! I like your mention of always keeping things on hand so you will not have any other option but fast food!

I've also seen where others also eat Wendys Chili! I'll have to try it!

I probably could also live off of Chic-Fil-A's chicken soup, it's yummy!!!! ))

@@Casey235 - Wendy's chili has always been a favorite of mine. My husband and I regularly do what we call Wendy's Wednesdays where I'll buy a couple of chilis, he'll have his over a baked potato with some cheese and I add just a little cheese to mine. When I measured out a 1/2 cup serving, it was about half of the small chili container - knowing that makes measuring on the go easier for me. I've not tried the Chick-fila chicken soup, but will keep it in mind next time we find ourselves there. Typically, now that I'm post-op, when we go out to eat, we will split a meal, not 50/50 obviously, but enough so that I get enough Protein and we can enjoy a meal out together. This plan has been working well for us. It also has cut down on our eating out budget

Just remember, always do what your surgeon and NUT suggest - that's what we're paying them for. There's a lot of great information on BP and a lot of encouragement, but everybody's journey is different.

If I have an insulated bag, I'll cook up some boneless chicken cut into strips and I'll eat them cold. Or pack up a chicken salad or tuna salad. I'll carry protein bars and almonds. And cheese sticks

Wendy's Chili is good and so is Panera's turkey chili.

Pollo Tropical has shrimp on a stick

Taco Bell, one fresco taco is more than enough for me. I am usually full half way

Publix Supermarket- their deli chicken soup

Denny's- Build your own grand slam - eggs, turkey bacon, grits (you will have left overs)

These are emergency suggestions, you can always look into their nutitional info on your phone app while I on the road to make pre-made decisions.

However, let this be emergency options, because at the end of the day,no matter what...everything that is not cooked at home will be extremely high in sodium.

I got into the habit of packing an insulated bag with p3 Protein pack, mini babybel, maybe a Protein Bar and a nice cold drink.

I don't always eat everything but it stays cold all day with the freezer pack in there so anything I don't use I just keep for the next day.

Grocery stores are another great option for lunches on the go.

Grocery stores are awesome. I pick up chicken strips, the meat out of Pasta salads (the pasta makes me hurl), crunchy veggies and cheese. I also ask the people at the deli to slice me 2-3 paper thin slices of lunch meat and cheese and no one tells me no. It costs less than $2 and is much better than drive thru.

I agree with lipstick lady that grocery stores are awesome. My local grocery store will also just slice a few slices of deli meat and cheese. They also sell rotisserie chicken and will sell just one piece if you ask. I have even gone to seafood department had had them steam me a handful of shrimp.

As far as fast food... Chick fil a grilled nuggets, Wendy's and panera's chili.

I also carry turkey jerky with me all the time for any food emergencies.

I always pack my insulated lunch bag with stuff no matter what. Having the right things is so important. I usually pack a protein shake, water, yogurt, string cheese, tuna in a pouch etc. staying totally away from fast food. It is too dangerous and you have really no way of knowing the nutrient values. All good advice and covered most of what I do but I will add..

Jack in the box also has grilled chicken strips (they are the ones they use in the fajita pita)

Street tacos from lots of places, I just eat the insides

Panera bread's new broth bowls

In a pinch MOST fast food places have a grilled chicken option either in a wrap or sandwich and you can request just the chicken.

I hardly ever eat it these days BUT once in a blue moon i will have pintos and cheese from taco bell. Everything else it seems I just end up throwing away.
