  1. I agree on chic-fila grilled nuggets. I stopped there on our 13 hour road trip. I also packed a cooler with some containers of food that I warmed at the gas stations.

    QUESTION

That's all I took off since I don't do any lifting or walking. I was good to go but made sure I was off pain meds by then.

    1 Question for everyone

The extra weight was keeping me away from everything/everyone I love!
  4. Hey everyone! I work a job that has me running around the city all day and rarely allows me the chance to stop and warm up my lunch. What Protein filled fast food options have you all turned to in crunch time? Right now my go to is Chic-fila's grilled nuggets (8 count).... Would love some suggestions!!!
  5. Wow, I feel like an odd ball... I can eat between 1.5-2.5 cups depending on the food. Is there anyone else at this level?
  6. I'm 4 months post op and I too am usually hungry most of the day even though I get in all my Protein and Water. The only way I can stop myself from snacking all day is staying under 1000 calories on MyFitness Pal app. I choose my food according to the calorie count but do snack more at night. My hunger is more intense after work so I save my calories for those times. At least you get full really fast! I can eat up to 2 cups of food and can tolerate everything
  7. I'm 4 months out and I have to say this is my favorite side effect. I no longer have the sweat mustache from just sitting outside or turn red because I'm hot and fat. I like being chili!!!

    How many calories a day?

I was sleeved on Jan 20th and I'm down 30 lbs. On most days I'll use every calorie that MFP has to offer for that day. Occasionally I'll eat about 800 a day but no matter what I get in my Protein, Water and Vitamins. Having said that, I average a weight loss of about 3 pounds a week. My question is... Will we still loose if we eat the allotted MFP calories per day/per weight?
  11. I am currently 5 weeks post op and have been alternating between Mederma and another paint on surgiscar liquid twice daily. As soon as my bandages came off I started the creams. Has anyone used scar creams that were successful and if so which ones?

    Out of pocket cost

I was all self pay in Kansas and received a discount for it. Everything was 11,999. That includes follow up for up to a year, NUT and support groups. I did have to pay an extra 700$ for my throat test since your under anesthesia for it. Other than that it's just paying for all the supplements you'll be on for the rest of your life and liquid diet stuff which isn't much. Hope that helps!
  13. I was all self pay and the day of my first consult I got approval and my date set that day. We scheduled it a month out only because it was his first open appointment or I would've went sooner. I also had to have time to get in my throat test and my week of liquid dieting before surgery so it needed to be at least 2 weeks after my first consult. I was super surprised that I walked out of my first appointment with a surgery date. I'm 2 months post op now and doing great. 30 pounds down in 8 weeks!

    Dumping and sleeve

I'm 2 months out and have had the "bubble guts" twice now after eating frozen yogurt with nuts and then again with my first romaine salad. It lasted about 8 hours and was horrible but because I love salad and yogurt so much I of course tried them both again anyway. Second time around for both didn't bother me at all, thank God! Still afraid to try deserts (sugar) after reading so many other people have reactions. I'm also afraid to try them and have no reaction and want them often...????
  15. I am also 8 weeks out and I agree that I'm not back to 100%. I'm definitely tired most of the time but agree that every week gets better. I also agree that our low calorie intake is probably contributing to the "abnormal" feeling. Can't wait to not feel so lazyish all day!!! ????

    Husband

My significant other of 18 years was against it in the beginning. He kept bringing up finances and how we couldn't afford it and how we should use the money to work on the house and other excuses. I kept on with all the appointments and prepared for surgery anyway and he eventually came around. I had to convince him that I will be a much happier women, mom and family member if I felt good about myself. He admitted that he was scared I would leave him if I got skinny or was 'too happy'. He ended up being the most supportive person the day of surgery and said seeing me in pain and in a hospital made him realize he just wanted me to be happy. He now helps me prepare my Protein meals and encourages me not to cheat. His fears (insecurities) still pop their head every once in awhile but we're working through on them. Keep pushing towards your goals and he'll come around. Good Luck!

    Alcohol

I waited 4 weeks and started with Titos Vodka and water with lemon and lime. I didn't get drunk super fast as they said we would. My hangovers are worse than before. I didn't use to get symptoms they next day but now I have headaches and feel really dehydrated. Oh yea and I get really tired when drinking.... Good luck!

    Vegetables after weight loss surgery

About to reach my 7 weeks post op and just had my first salad! I had romaine, pecans, boiled egg whites and honey champagne vinaigrette with no problems. I'm able to tolerate a good amount so I had about 2 cups of romaine, 1/ cup of pecans, I whole egg (egg whites) and basically drenched in dressing. Looking forward to more salad mix inns....
  19. @@BLERDgirl thanks for the concern! I've been taking the bariatric Vitamins three times a day and the Calcium chews three times a day. Do you take anything else? I'm scheduled for a 10 week follow up where I get labs done at the end of the month... Fingers crossed! I'm actually giving in and getting the Fitbit this week to start somewhere.

    Are the drains painful?

I had one drain and while it was in I didn't feel it. I did consciously not move much while in bed because I was afraid to mess it up some how. I had my PCA pump still going when they pulled it out so I pushed my WONDERFUL pain button right before they pulled it and it didn't really hurt. I agree that it was just an uncomfortable feeling but not painful. Oh yea, the NUT, nurses and Dr's all prepared us by reminding us to breath when they're taking it out cause holding your breath would make it more unbearable. It worked! Good Luck!
  21. Hi All, I was also sleeved on 1/20 but I'm finding it that I have no energy to exercise yet. I feel tired all the time, even though I get in my Protein and liquids. How many calories are you guys consuming now and should we be worries about burning off too many calories when working out?

    1/23 sleeve warriors!

I couldn't even imagine trying jerky yet, it seems to rough to swallow since grilled chicken can be hard to swallow... Yes, it gets better on liquids and foods every week. Day by day is harder to judge by but if I focus on weekly then I really notice the changes. I'll be 6 weeks out tomorrow and I'll I'm craving is a salad and sushi!!! Have you guys tried raw veggies yet? I've been eating while grain items with no problems so far...
  23. I too am sorry you had to hear that and I agree with the majority of the comments. I believe that he's mentally preparing himself for you to be skinny and possibly leave him so he's trying to play mind games and belittle you now so you won't leave and you'll be insecure. In all my training a it's a form of abuse to control someone with negative comments. Stay strong cause all this work we're putting in will eventually build our self confidence so much that nothing will get us down!!! Good luck!

    1/23 sleeve warriors!

Hi! I had my surgery on 1/20, so a little over 5 weeks now. At 4 weeks I had lost 23 lbs, how about you? No pain now except for when introducing whole wheat products. I can sleep on my stomach now which is a huge relief. No vomiting or hair loss yet, which is nice! Are there any foods you haven't been able to tolerate? Nuts are the only thing that have given me diarrhea ????

    How to tell the kids

I'm one of those who is keeping my surgery a secret from non-important (not close) family/friends. My daughter is 7 and we just explained to her that this is part of our family business and something we, as a family can discuss but not outside our house. But we also have REALLY nosy people in our life who quiz her because they know we're private so she's trained to not give out personal family info. She's kind of felt important knowing what's going on and has been a great helper. It's also nice having them help keep your secret when out in public or at functions. They eat what I can't off my plate without me asking and help keep me on track if I'm having a craving. They also know to ask Dad for certain foods or to go out to eat so it doesn't tempt me. I've chosen to keep my surgery a secret for many reasons and totally understand why you don't want others to know.
