Sometimes I think this losing weight makes people all pissy...must be hormones! People are always "flouncing". Chill!

I think it was just the wording of the original post. The "only" in there.

Only, made it sound like she was disappointed in the amount of weight she was losing thus far. So I can see how the other poster took it that way.

I don't think the internet is for everyone.

I think that it would be quite beneficial to the flow of the board if everyone made a point to remember that we are here to lift each other up as we all go through the same journey.

I realize some of you may not want to hear this, but there is no "right" way to do this. Each person's success will be different.. each person's body will respond differently. What worked for you may not work for someone else. Even our doctors don't agree on diet, exercise, etc... So before we slam down our "fist of absolute truth," let's try to remember that we are all on this journey together, and lift one another up.

I am 1 month 5 days post op and down 34 pounds since surgery. I was lucky enough to skip the 3 week stall but now it makes me even more anxious and nervous for when my first one hits. There are so many things that can affect this like everyone says...my doc has us on a full month of liquid which could be the reason I skipped the 3 week stall. Also I have quite a bit to lose. So many factors that change person to person. Anyway thankful for my progress, I really am enjoying this "honeymoon" stage.

comparing weight loss to others will only lead in heartache, you wont lose as fast as some or as slowly as others, its the way it is. your weight loss is to get to a goal weight. if you set too many mini goals you'll get discouraged easily, same if you just have one goal then the task can seem too daunting. Take it as it comes, follow your plan and be happy with your results.

I couldn't agree more or said it any better. Bravo Geekguy

You may not hit a stall. I never did. Lost steadily hit goal at 6 months. Not everyone hits a stall. So hopefully you will not either.

When I was first post op I was THRILLED when I was in the lb/day phase. Now at 3 months post op I'm lucky if I get a lb a week sometimes. Then out of nowhere I'll get 6 in one week. There is NO normal lol. Roll with it, girlfriend - this is a crazy ride!

@@nikki1980 …A pound a day? That’s phenomenal – congratulations! When you’re losing a pound a day, you should be dancing for joy! Everyone here is right – you’re doing great. Now, prepare yourself ahead of time in case your weight loss slows down. It will, but you can’t get disappointed. It’s supposed to! You’re right on track, and if you keep eating just like your surgeon says, you’ll stay right on track, even if you have challenging days or weeks or even months. It all works out in the end if you eat right.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
