sir, well april is going to be a bit early for you this year. you have to use the honeymoon period to its fullest. you can drink beer, but to do so this soon, is wayy too soon.
Can you drink beer eventually? sure. as long as you counter it with exercise. I actually work as a brewer for s commercial brewery and I am heavily involved in the beer culture and scene. You can do it. you just have to be smart about it.

I have to say several of these "doctors" are so full of crap. Sorry to be blunt, I do believe that sugar is my problem, and i lose as long as i avoid them, but fats play a huge role as well. and i'm sorry but anyone who listens to doctors who are selling a diet, a book or a series of videos or a website etc, deserves what they get. They are simply in it for the money. To say that sugar is toxic and coupled with industrial food? Andrew weil is about as realistic as luke skywalker.
Im sorry but i have a major problem with people who were fat their whole lives ( like me, and yes i am not afraid to say FAT) then all of a sudden they lose weight and as fast as that they are suddenly experts and start telling others how they are living badly. People shouldn't answer questions they were never asked.

Let me say this is other terms. And im not trying to be mean spirited. When someone comes out and says, "hey, i know , and you're being deceived" that's a big red flag for the ultimate in a destructive personality. People like to hold on to some bt of knowledge they think gives them an edge or step up, over people they deem less knowledgeable and lower than them in life. Its a means of an inflated ego and used as a sort of pseudo self confidence. It happens a lot. A very famous
I remember reading a paper , ( for the life of me i cannot find the author) a few years back, and it dealt with people who make a huge lifestyle change and then they absorb the change so much they become an "expert" in the change that they themselves could not undertake for such a long time. Its why we have so many people that go through this journey and then become "experts" in weight loss and fitness etc. While they dont really acknowledge the facts of their own failures and faults in the exact field they have grown to become so involved in. I do believe one of the points of the paper had to do with addicts becoming addiction counselors and being shown to have a higher rate of empathy, but a lower rate of success than those who never had addictions.
Im sorry but to say anyone is being deceived is a gross misrepresentation of the truth. No one is out there thinking mcdonalds is healthy. Every one of us knew that we were eating badly. We all know about sugar being bad. Anyone who says "i never realized" is lying out their butt. We knew it, we ignored it, we chose our lifestyle, its part of overcoming this. We have to take responsibility for ourselves. Or else this is all just a simple exercise in blame and futility. Seriously look at these forums, you'll find hundreds who say after 2 or 3 months post op, they are munching on 2 or 3 Protein bars a day, regardless of the facts the nutrition information on them shows they are terrible for weight loss. But people so it. All they have to do is read the nutritional info on the label. ANd they just ignore it. Its part of our humanity that we decide to ignore what we want. No doctor who claims we should blame it on some hidden cause and only THEY know the answer, will ever be anything more than a money grubbing danger to people in general. That kind of svengali like cult leader attitude will cause nothing but problems for those who folow. I have a friend who lost a lot of weight, and then proceeded to constantly explain to everyone why they just needed to do this and that, and how the gmos were out to get them etc. End result? That person alienated a whole ton of friends who no longer wish to be a part of this persons life. This is the exact same response you get when someone is taken into a cult.

too many carbs for me, i prefer as close to sugar free as possible and since i have no sensitivities nor celiac issues thankfully, im j just fine on the isolates. but we do have to remember to read labels, so many Protein supplements are not for weight loss, and have a ton of sugar and carbs in them. Especially ready made ones.

i made 12 million dollars working at home, on google and through this website, last month alone...
    Ha Ha
I really despise those people. I got called last night by one of those windows service centers for your computer, i wont mention the country of origin because people think I am racist if i mention a foreign country, but anyway. I unfortunately was not in a good mood, was trying to rush out to he gym it was 96 degrees, i had just come home from work, i was washing a frying pan and dropped it and had to wipe up soapy Water on the floor etc, and got that call, and I just exploded at the guy, lol truthfully though i did feel better after. I do love to mess with telemarketers, like the last idiot that called about solar panels, i told him " im sorry sir, but on my planet, we dont have a sun, just ambient cosmic radiation." i was met with stunned silence.
I love window salesmen, to them i usually say, I have no windows in my home, i bricked them all up to keep out the zombies. That usually gets a chuckle.

Good question, I have always said i wanted my tombstone to read, ...here lies Steve, he was truly a nice guy.
But that is a copout, i think it was the fat guy trying to be liked so much regardless of whether or not i was nice to them perhaps. Now that I have discovered the other side of fat so to speak, I realized that life isnt just about being nice, thats just the easy way of saying , i didnt accomplish anything. Everyone dies, You have to live as well, before you die, so now i have all these goals, i take guitar lessons and I really want to be able to enjoy music in this new way, I have always been a singer, and with this new body I have to adapt to the changes, and i want to add my guitar playing into my repetoire. I am also building toward running a 5k, and I am really enjoying this journey.

Im going to go with preparation. To often I am seeing so many people not getting the pre surgical preparation work done. They do not know what they are in for. It seems that either there are many unscrupulous practices out there, or its just that people are not reading up on the surgery and what to expect. So many of these surgeons do so many surgeries they don't have the time to educate the potential patients as to what is really involved.
We see lots of people taking advice from non-qualified people. Or they ask very simple questions about topics that should be part of the basic prep work done by a surgeons practice prior to and immediately following surgery. As a result people are not mentally prepared to make this journey count and to use this tool to make those lifestyle changes so that when the "honeymoon" period is over they can still go forth with their new knowledge and their new attitude and lifestyle, and make the most of it.
Now i wholeheartedly agree also with the support reason. I find more and more people here and in other forums etc, that hide their WLS from everyone, because they either fear failure, or they fear some type of stigma. WHen you hide the WLS, you cannot expect support when people don't even know you need support. I am a big proponent of the open and often, method. I have a blog, and I share my WLS story with everyone and anyone. I am proud to be on this journey and proud enough to make myself succeed. The daily or the like, affirmations i get from friends , family and coworkers are truly a way to recharge, when i'm feeling down or feeling that this is too tough. I think people focus on part of the journey , like exercise, and they dont try to educate themselves in things like nutrition and how to cook in smaller portions or t with healthier ingredients. I also see people who think that they just have to summer for a few months then when they hit their goal, and go into maintenance mode, they can just go back to eating whatever they want. Attitude is so important here. Honestly, If i didn't have a breakthrough in my meeting with a counselor, I might not have made it this far either.
Once I did have the counseling, they made sure I understood , why I had failed before, and why i got fat. Yes i use the term fat, I wont hide from who I was, or what I was. I feel it is important not to live in a delusion about where we are/were and where we want to be.

I'd like to say this in regards to Rogers post. The studies that call 50% of excess body weight loss as a success, are a failure to me. If I go through this only to lose 50% of my excess weight , then it would not be worth it at all. While I think 100% of excess weight loss maintained is certainly attainable, but not exactly realistic. However somewhere in the range of 85% of excess weight lost, would be the minimum I would feel comfortable with without truly regretting the whole process and viewing it as a failure.
Maybe I am alone in my thinking, but I think I am not.
