@@sassycas45 My preop is Protein Shakes and one small meal a day. I have tons of samples to make shakes, Premier Protein RTD, unflavored Protein to mix with crystal light. They suggested a lean cuisine type meal 1x day but I'd rather cook my own. We can push each other lol!

Good Luck to all of you! I am 3 1/2 months out and honestly, it just wasn't bad. I drank (water!) a lot and had something every few hours. So a Protein shake in the morning, greek yogurt mid morning, shake for lunch, greek yogurt or SF Jello in the afternoon, and another shake for dinner. Lots of Water in-between. After day 2 I really was not hungry. Hope you all have as easy of a time as I did!

Tip to you all! Do not buy too much of any Protein Shakes, powders and ect. Your taste buds WILL change after surgery. Mine was on 2/23 I am almost 2 weeks post op. 2 Protein shakes a day along with a small meal under 300 calories is the good. I did Lean Cuisines, Health Choice because they had lots of delicious varieties so you dont get bored. Good luck to you all!

I think I may have been on this site and read too many books on the sleeve diet! I got my pre-op diet today and was disappointed. They said what I expected as far as the 3 Protein Shakes daily but examples included Carnation instant Breakfast and Atkins! What...?! I have stocked up on Isopren, Unjury, Isopure and premium but no mention of these. Now they do let us choose our own but none of the above mentioned????...is this perhaps because it's only pre-op. Clear and full liquids are also included as needed but I guess it just surprised me. Anyone else use the Atkins or Carnation?

I was provided a huge list of various low carb / high Protein drinks and powders. I use Isopure with Almond Milk and Muscle Milk Light chocolate in the blender with Almond Milk and Ice. I also bought Premier Protein per made shakes, the provide 30 grams of Protein with only 160 calories. Got those at Walmart.< /p>

Right now I am on day four and I will be honest this is not easy for me, but I take lots of naps and stay hydrated. I'm constipated and a little fatigued.

I got a phone call from the hospital today for my pre surgery appointment and suddenly this seems so real, so no turning back now :)

Great luck to everybody, I will be praying for our strength during these few weeks.

Day 4 seems to be A LOT better than previous days for me thus far. Yesterday I was listless and woozy. Today I snuck in a mini-nap at lunch (maybe 15 mins) and have focused on increasing my Water intake. I feel a lot stronger.

I got some good advice today from a co-worker. She suggested I focus on how different my body is feeling through this process - whether it's hungry, tired or cleansed. Realize that this is the beginning of a huge, positive change. My body is feeling that change. And I'm moving in the direction I've been waiting for since November, when I started this process!

That perspective motivated me - hopefully it motivates you, too! :)

In knew that my case had been turned into the Insurance company, but the approval came much faster than they led me to think it would be. I was under the assumption that I'd have another few weeks. I'm grateful, but wasn't prepared in the pantry. On day two and it's not been that bad. I am not hungry but realize I have as trouble habit of gulping Water when I drink. It's like subconsciously my mind thinks I've been out in the blazing sun also. Husband says this is not a new thing..... Apparently I've always done it. This may not work well after surgery. Hard habit to break!

I've been noticing this as well! They told me I would drink Water from a little medicine cup. Maybe you could use one and try to do that. I drink a lot of water.. never any sodas! Sometimes coffee and hot tea.. so I get lots of water in..

Water is definitely going to be my problem also. I drink it like it is a race. I think it comes from being hypnotized years ago in an attempt to lose weight. The suggestion was when I felt hungry I would drink a cool refreshing glass of water, well I do but than eat also! Another failed plan, I could write a book on the crazy attempts over the years! Thank goodness for the sleeve, I can't wait!

Surgery on March 12th. Muscle Milk, Premier Protein, Pure Protein, and EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control shakes three times a day with a scoop of nectar Cappuccino and some ice - its like a coolatta. If I feel I'm on the run and not getting enough calories/protein, I thrown in a cup of Greek yogurt, Thickens it up, makes me feel full longer, and gives me everything I might feel I'm lacking for the day. Doc told me 100g of protein a day, and to not think about calories post op because the water's most important at that point. I'm between 800 and 1000 calories a day right now. After day 4 - i was feeling a lot better, pretty good with headaches and hunger pains. I still get that craving here and there, and then my indecisiveness helps me battle it to the death lol.... I wish I wasn't working 60 hours, because I feel naps and being around MY refrigerator and cupboards would be more effective than feeling stranded with scheduled shakes and foods.

I'm scheduled for my surgery on April 10, so am starting my pre-op diet on March 27th. I'm super-excited but also starting to feel a bit nervous (understandable) and just ready to get it all done.

Thanks for posting about all of your Pre-Op diet experiences. It's great to read about before I start.

Good luck everyone! We got this! :);):D

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
