MisforMimi, I was certain I was the only freak with those thoughts. I've made certain that my POA knows when to pull the plug and that my daughter has a way to get back home with my dog when I die. And I'm a nurse who knows better. People keep asking, "Are you excited?"...No, I'm nervous! But at least I can laugh at my obsessive thoughts.

@@goodnuff, I work at a level one trauma center for an Orthopedic surgeon!! Maybe our minds just start at the worst case scenario and then digs itself out from there. My stars! It got better the closer I was to the surgery.

Thank you all for this thread. I have not had surgery yet, but it's so easy to get scared off by some of the stories out there. It's good to hear from people who have had a great experience from surgery.

Wow....I wonder how many people in here have medical background? I was a nurse back in the day (among other things). I agree that it has a play on how you view things when this surgery comes into play. I just had to tell myself that what was instore without the surgery was way worse than getting it. I had been researching wls for about 20 years....so I was probably more informed than the staff at the clinic. I have to say the orientation on the first day I about died of boredom. I was desperately trying not to fall asleep during it. I just reminded myself it was part of the hoop jumping process... :D The thing I was happiest and most excited about was that the process was finally started and I was on my way.

Thank you for the responses! I will definitely keep posting to let you all know what I decide. It has been really helpful reading other experiences because I don't know anyone who has had either surgery. hopefully I can keep up with you ladies because I could sure use the laughs through the rest of this process ????

This post is funny! I was glad to read it though...I'm still in the pre op stage and trying to decide rather to go with the bypass or sleeve. I am apprehensive about the bypass because I'm afraid of the unknown...for some reason I just picture myself being a bloated nauseous mess most of the time...I know that is probably far from the reality but that's what I associate the rerouting with.

Reading you all's stories gives me hope that I can possibly have this surgery and not feel "sick" for the rest of my life.

Did any of you feel that way when you were trying to decide? And what made you go with the bypass over the sleeve?

Do you feel nauseous or sick a lot or is this just in my head lol! Do any of you wish you would have had the sleeve instead?

I wish I would have not done anything. I was sleeved 6 weeks ago and I feel sick 24 hrs a day. I cough up phlem all day long. I can barely keep Soup down. my sleeve has a kink, which you never read about happening and it's awful.

@@Peace Love & Sleeve,

Six weeks seems like a long time. What kind of support are you getting? Have you spoken with a nutritionist? I hope you can get a resolution soon. That sucks.

@@Peace Love & Sleeve I am so sorry that you are not feeling well. Have you talked to the doctor about how you are feeling? I have not had surgery yet so I have no idea how you should be feeling at 6 weeks out...what is a kink, can they fix it so you can get to feeling better?

My complication wasn't because of the actual procedure, it was caused by anesthesia which was expected. I knew going in that my body doesn't like it so it was no surprise that it caused me to have 2 extra days in the hospital because my "gut" didn't wake up like everyone else's did Aside from that I have NO COMPLAINTS and I've had NO COMPLICATIONS. No regrets, no dumping if I follow the program and nothing bad to say at all about the whole process. If someone told me tomorrow that I needed to do it again, I would in a heartbeat.

Somehow from the surgery my stomach took a different shape, I have no idea if it is drs fault or what. I just wish somewhere I could have read more about what I'm going through, I had no idea I could possibly have to have extra gi procedures done, extend my leave 5 weeks as well. I feel sick alllllll day too which is horrible.

@@Velocity I haven't had anything bad. Thrown up a few times but it's because the meat was too dry. My frustration is that compared to many, I'm a slow looser. It's frustrating! I'm following my doctors plan, I must be doing something wrong. I have 120 to loose at this point and lately I'm only dropping 1-2 lbs a week.

You'll be fine. As long as you're losing it's going down. It's not a race...:) I have been on a stall for 20 days and not frustrated because inches are coming off. I notice it in the way my clothes are fitting and how my face is thinning down.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
