Did your shoe size change after weight loss surgery?

Recommended Posts

Oh heck yeah. I started as an 8 1/2 and now depending on if it's a tennis shoe or dress shoe I'm in a 6 1/2-7. Mine is more about the width, I guess there's not as much weight pushing down on them to squish them out now:-)

I have lost 71 pounds and went from 9W to regular 8 1/2. All of my shoes are huge. In fact, I took a tumble a couple weeks ago because my shoe fell off my foot. Even my slides are enormous. I use thick hiking socks with my sport shoes. I am waiting until the Spring/summer season to buy shoes. I did buy some already but there's no pint on getting winter stuff at this point. I was 8 1/2 before gaining all the weight, so I think if you think back to the weight goal you are aiming for, that's the shoe size you are likely to be in the end.

I would take them back. I was fitted for running shoes and they made me go up half a size to account for natural feet swelling, and I realized by the time I do my run in September, they're more than likely going to be way too big so I'm returning them and will get refitted in the summer. Treat yourself to new shoes when you've reached a milestone on your weight loss, or when your current shoes start to get too big.

Pre-surgery, my feet would randomly get sore and would swell. Post-surgery, my feet have shrank 1/2 shoe size and have stayed that way for over a year.

1/2 size smaller and significantly narrower. All my old shoes slip off my feet now. I added gel insoles so I didn't have to throw them away.

Y'all have made my day! :D

The shoes went back to the store today and I was smiling while I returned them.

I seem to recall that I wore an 8 to an 8.5 in my early twenties. Now I'm a 9.5 to a 10. I love knowing there's hope that I can get back down to where I can wear smaller shoes.

But best of all, I love hearing that my feet may no longer swell. I hate that!!

I'm on a countdown now. Surgery is three weeks, just twenty-one days, from tomorrow. So excited! :)

I lost a full size and went from wide width to normal. I attribute that more to my feet not being as chubby rather than it shrinking in length.

Mine sure did! Some shoes and boots I was able to put a big insole in to make them work, others, I walked right out of.

I'm about 17 days post op and I already see a difference in my shoe size. Pre op I was in an 11. The one pair of "heels" (they are actually 5.5" wegdes) that was comfortable for me to wear to church are an 11 and they are now flopping off my feet. My 10's are officially back in action....but they are a little looser than I remember too. Some of it could be that I'm no longer retaining Fluid like I used to but I'll take it! It's hard as hell to find cute shoes in an 11!

I'm just shy of three weeks out and had to go shopping for shoes today. My loafers and flats were all too small. Anything with laces I can cinch tight enough... for now.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
