Got banded in Springfield MO??

Recommended Posts

One more thing...if you haven't posted in the forum for others getting banded in May 2008, I highly recommend it! They will be going through what you are and at the same (basically) time. They have several threads started, but it looks like the one with 5 stars would be the one to start in. Just thought I'd mention it...

Kim, No I won't be going on the trip. I just have too much going on in my life. I just can't get away and besides I don't fly. I looked up otherways of getting there but it just wasn't going to work out. And I'm not up to driving all that way by myself. It sounds like they are going to have to much fun. I hope I don't feel left out when they get back.

Legster, I was always one the avoided cameras. Now I search for any old pictures I can get my hands on. I just can't get over the transformation I have gone thru. I still have a long ways to go But seeing where I was is a big boost to me. Please take pics of yourself. You will be glad you did and please don't ever feel that you can't post them here. You are going thru anything that we haven't already gone thru or have said to our ownselves. Your doing great and be proud of it.

Supposed to get up in the 80's here in the big city but calling for rain the next few days. I bet you guys are probably tired of the crappy weather you've had this winter. Hope it starts to change for you.

Happy Cinco De mayo and have a great day.

Suzie, I did manage to take a couple of before pictures....begrudgingly! When I went to the all day Behavioral Health class, there was a panel of post-ops that had pics, so I went home and asked hubby to take some of me before I changed my mind! You are right. I'm so glad I did!

I have cheated a couple times.... Last night I had a couple hot wings and some pizza. I have still lost 10 pounds so far. I am not going to let myself cheat starting today. My surgery is Friday so that gives me 4 days before surgery of all liquid. I hope I haven't messed anything up by cheating a little here and there a couple days.....

Ok, with all the crappy weather you guys have had. How do you get any exercising done? I love to get outside and walk and thank goodness our weather has been good enough for that. They are calling for rain tonight and maybe into tomorrow.

Let me know what kind of exercising you guys do. Do you go to a gym or do you workout at home?

Have a great day.

Hi to all,

Okay, I know my 1st meeting is Monday and will most likely get the answers then, but I have a few more questions my DH keeps asking me, especially about costs. I am self-pay and DH wants to know if any of the fills are included in Dr. Edward's basic price? I am looking more at the risk of surgery and he is checking the financial. I am sure we will come together once we have all the research done. I have researched clinics in Mexico, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Sedalia. The dr. in Sedalia will only do RNY and has discontinued doing Lap Band. He states it is because of long term weight results. Still, I feel from reading this forum that Lap Band is less invasive with a much quicker recovery time. It is true you have to follow up with fills and their cost, but do you not have to continue to have lab work, B-12 shots, etc. with RNY? Does the cost not even out and leave the Lap Band less risky? Any answers or thoughts?

I bellieve in self pay the first year of fills is included in the price. Have you gone to one of his seminars? They are very informative and helpful.

Suzie, I belong to a gym, so the weather doesn't matter. I like it also because it's an all women's gym and I've made some friends there. We encourage each other and talk while working out, so the time goes by quickly. Sometimes I hate to leave!

Dianne, if it is the same way as when i was banded with self-pay, all follow-up appointments (check-ups every 3 mos.) and fills are INCLUDED in the price for one year from your surgery date. I don't imagine that has changed, but it would be wise to go ahead and ask.

It has been a long time since I have posted. I hope everyone is doing good. I have had my second fill and I can tell that I have more restriction. I think I still need at least one more fill to get to the perfect fill level. I have my three month follow-up with Dr. Edwards on Tuesday, May 13. I need to keep exercising more regular. Debbie and I have started walking on lunch and that has been fun! I

Hollygurl-Just think only two more days on the liquid diet. You can do it! I remember it was difficult but well worth it. The liquid diet is important for the surgery to go successful. Heather from Dr. Edwards office said that it is more difficult to do the surgery if someone has not followed the liquid diet. Keep your head up and you are at the final stretch of the liquid diet. I will be thinking of you on Friday. Keep us posted.

There have been so many new people since I last posted. Hello to Everyone!

Kimberly(Maziemommy) I hope you are doing Great! I did not get a chance to tell you the other night at the library meeting but you look Great! I can see a difference from the last time I saw you, which was a month ago.

I will try to post more often so I can stay in touch. I hope everyone has a great week.

Kimberly :)

Self pay ------ as of 4-2-07 (my surgery date) was one year of free fills (and I got 6 of them).

Everyone is different, I have heard one say she has had only 2 fills, and lost over 100 pounds.

Good luck, and DO go to the seminar- it will answer tons of questions... take some paper to jot down questions for after the information. Most will get answered as he goes along, but he has always answered questions after too.

Ok Guys, we need a head count. Is everyone ok? How were the storms? Did anyone have damage? I'm praying all is ok with everyone. Talked to my Aunt in Joplin and my cousin in Monett and they were all right. Let us know how you are doing.

I don't think there were any problems right here in Springfield. All's well here. Thanks for asking!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
