January Sleevers ❄️

@@downsizingdiva - I agree with the above. Eat something new! Eat more? I've been training hard and eating same amounts but more often and it kicked my last stall in the butt.

Stalls are normal but frustrating when we are in one! Keep your eyes on the goal and let your body catch up :)

Thanks, I'm not cheating, but I'm not exercising like I should...I'm wondering if my Quest bars are partly to blame

I've gone back to eating a Half cup portion at every meal and I started losing again !! ( think I was starting to slip back into bad habits before by eating too much at meal times)

I was stalling out quite a bit and really kicked up the work outs. So instead of working out three times a week I work out 6 days a week and doing some weight training 4 of those days. I lost 10 lbs this month which was my goal. Plus I realized that some days I had to eat more and some days I did not. I think it kept my body from getting use to the food amounts and workouts! Good luck...yes stalls are annoying but we need our bodies to adjust time to time and we will make it through them.

I THINK I'VE BROKEN MY STALL/GAIN. I'M DOWN TO 220, STAYED AT 222-225 FOR LIKE A MONTH, WEIRD. ANYWAY I'M JUST GLAD I'M DOWN. I WENT SHOPPING ON lunch TODAY. I PICKED OUT SOME STUFF ON THE PLUS SIZE SIDE OF THE STORE AND NONE OF IT WAS FLATTERING. I WENT THE THE "NORMAL" SIZE SIDE OF THE STORE AND BOUGHT THREE XL SHIRTS. I WAS STOKED AND THEY LOOK GREAT. NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE XL AGAIN IN MY LIFE. I'M SO THANKFUL. THIS SEEMS TO BE SLOW GOING FOR ME LATELY BUT IT IS STILL AWESOME!

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I've checked in.

Life is pretty good right now. I moved, started a new job, started a new school to lead to a new career and all of that's been exciting and wonderful. I've been out here (Walla Walla Washington) for one month now and my weight has been going down, but slower. I mostly blame myself, my new career has to do with wine, so I've been going wine tasting almost every day. Still exercising, but I need to eat a little better. During my month here I've lost about 5 pounds and have now lost a total of 105 lbs. my goal is only about 25lbs away, although I'm stating to realize I'll likely adjust that goal downward when I get there. I'm currently 6 lbs away from onederland, so that's my closer goal, what I need to concentrate on to feel like I'm achieving things.

I bought a some new clothes yesterday, my waist is down to a 36 inch from a 48-50 at my heaviest, and I bought a shirt that fits great and is size L, down from XXXXL. Just typing that makes me proud. Hope everyone else is doing great, keep it up!

lol I'd love to say I'm doing something wrong since most of you are near goal but I guess we all just lose differently. I slip here and there and drink and eat things that I'm not suppose to and I'm aware of that but I did not sign up to give things up forever. I signed up to learn how to eat the right amounts. Place a good foundation for working out and eating right. I never said I was going to give up the occasional things that I use to love. Just agreed that in order to change i was going to have a cookie instead of 6 or 8. Or 4 oz of steak instead of 12. Everything is ok in moderation and while I might not reach goal as quickly I know it will be a more realistic way for me to get there. I hope you guys are having a great week and try to enjoy the holiday weekend!

I actually totally agree. I have treats frequently, but just in small amounts. It makes life so much more fun to have thing you enjoy. For me, since I'm going into the wine industry and studying enology and viticulture, wine has become the thing I splurge on most often. It's slowed down my losses, but I'm still losing and having a good life as the ounces (instead of pounds) come off.

I still watch my diet most of the time, always watch my amounts, and exercise almost every day. But having some chocolate, wine or Pasta on occasion are part of how I live my life. I've managed to still lose over 100 pounds and I will reach my goal one day. Just maybe not tomorrow.

You have to hold your head high and be proud of the weight you worked so had to lose, regardless if that's 25lbs or 250lbs. It's a process, a long process, and starving oneself of all pleasure is not the way to enjoy the one life we live. You mentioned moderation. That's the key. I have one glass of wine or a couple bites of dark chocolate. The rest of the day I follow the rules. Moderation will still get you there, but when you arrive you'll have a smile.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
