Good "morning" everyone. We played a fiesty game of Risk until late in the night and except for answering the phones and catching up here have done a big nothing this lazy Sat. morn. and it feels great!!

Chris45 - Welcome to you and anyother new July bandster!!

Laurend - I have a very thin, judgemental mom, who makes little "comments" (actually painful jabs). I finally started to say "are you sure this is worth it?" when she would start. Sometimes she actually thinks about it an stops! I have decided NOT to tell the parents about the surgery. They live in another state and would probably WRONGLY see it as a defeatest quick fix. Instead, if/when she mentions my weight loss, I am going to tell her that it is not benefitial for me to discuss my weight and food with her and end it at that. I cant wait!!!

Jackie56 - BOWEL PREP???? oh, to be innocent! Will I get this at my pre-op? A step I won't look forward to - but will conquer with dignity!!

KathyBad,

What great news!! I hope your DS steps up to the plate and helps you out with the child care... it would be pretty crumby of her not to help out when this is such a great opportunity for you and hubby.

My company for the weekend just left and I got to eat Breakfast... my first REAL Breakfast.< /p>

I am supposted to shift to SOFT/MUSHY in two days, but I had to have an egg today.

OMG it was good, I made "EGG IN THE HOLE" 1 egg, 1 slice of bread....it was divine.. and chewed, chewed, chewed every mouthful thoroughly until it all felt like GLUE in my mouth..

oh but I did enjoy!

down 15 lbs. now since pre-op

Peaches... that's amazing! 15 lbs in two weeks. So your first solids... I'm glad it tasted so good.

I'm anxiously awaiting my day on Thurs.

I had to drink a 10oz bottle of Mag citrate (mixed with a little bit of 7 up to ward off some of that twangy taste) 2 days before surgery. Does anyone else have/had to do this? Not to be blunt but I have had nothing going in for 2 weeks but liquids and so needless to say that is all that has been coming out for the last 2 weeks. I don't know why we need to do this too. I wonder if it is just in case we cheated to remove anything that might be lingering?? Who knows? At any rate it is drank so I am 1 more step to being there. Have 2 different antibiotics I have to take tomorrow 3 times in preparation for surgery. After those are down I am ready for the hospital Monday. Anyone else have to do all this?

I used to play online games, but now that I found this thread, this is my entertainment/relaxation!!! :clap2: I love it! Never did chatting before, but this is addictive!!!!! It is my new OBSESSION, lol!!!! I feel lost if I don't check it periodically!!!!! How sad is that??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

Same with me. It is my new obsession. You know, I hate housework so much I went out and cut grass. I have a huge yard, several acres, and I got about half done. I will leave the other half for my son. It got too hot for out there.

No jackie, I haven't had to jump through any of those hoops. In fact, I haven't had any pre-op instructions with regards to diet with the exception of the night before surgery. Guess I'm lucky.

As for the magnesium citrate, I would've taken the tablet form. I'll use them occasionally if I feel things are "clogging up" and I need to clear out the plumbing, so to speak. Can't understand why you'd need them if you were on a liquid diet though. But then it may be as you said, in case someone's cheated.

Anyway, seems there are as many different rules as there are surgeons. I'm counting down the days myself. Only 5 more days to go for me. I wonder why my counter says 4? :) My mood changes constantly. At times I'm excited, at times I'm apprehensive, but one things that always consistent is I know this is the best thing for me. ;)

I hate the really hot weather... I'd call it "hell" too if I lived where you are Sunny. I love the spring and fall, a bit of summer and hate the cold of winter. I would love it if we had 3 months of spring, 2 weeks of summer, 8 months of fall and 2 weeks of winter (over xmas). That would be my ideal.

That sounds like my ideal weather year also.

Julybander, welcome. this is a great group.

Sounds like everyone is cleaning house today.

Sunny, how do you live with your mother after all that.

She really needs me now. She can't live alone...and she never says anything about my weight or my housekeeping. I guess she is afraid I would kick her out. :biggrin1: I wouldn't but it is nice that she doesn't complain.

Hello everyone,

I got my Band date yesterday, it is July 31.

Am I the only guy getting banded in July?

There is Danny and Big Wave Dave that pop in from time to time. Welcome. We will just get jealous as you lose faster than the women. :biggrin1:

I got a cleaning lady who comes over every other week, but I still have to do laundry, dishes etc...

I am off to the home improvement store now, our garage door opener broke. Have a good day!

After I get the new floors down, I am getting a cleaning lady. My mother had one every 2 weeks when she lived by herself and she said she would pay for one here. :clap2:

Peaches, get weight loss. I am looking forward to it. :biggrin1:

Kathy, I sure hope your sister steps up and helps you out. What a great opportunity for a special time with your husband.

Chimboree, good luck on your sleep study. I hated mine. I had trouble falling asleep with all the lines attached to me. good thing I did it though because now I have cpap which i love. sleep so good with it...:)

Jeanie,

50 lashes with a wet noodle.....:)

No, can't do that== you might eat the noodle:biggrin1:

just keep making short posts until it move to the next page. That works except for Dini who has her set up as 50 messages a page. It might take a while for it to move past for her.

Hi Dini Girl. Just thinking about you and wanted send a little sunshine your way ;)

Yes we are! ;) And there was someone new who came the other day who was being banded on our day as well. I meant to say something to her, but I lost her post in the avalanche I still had to read.:)

Hey, has Felicia been on recently today. I remember when she posted a pic of herself, a huge pic and the page ended up like this too!!

Sorry Felicia, had to bring it up. I'm still chuckling over that.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
