Alaska would be great for me. I've been wanting to go forever. DD isn't that interested yet so this would be a good excuse for Mom to go!

Marcy: Aren't Sydney and her family amazing. It really is so wild: One day everything was normal and the next they were in a gigantic nightmare. I don't know how anyone could get through this without prayer and knowing that God's plan is perfect, whatever it is. CC

Breadlady: It's probably too late, but I think you could try again. Just chew really really well. Skip the rice, that could be the problem. I would take it really slow though.

Mango: You are a riot. Love the slaughter lessons idea, poor Marcy, hopefully she knows we are all just kidding!!

Well, I waited a few minutes then continued to eat. Albeit, very, very, very slowly. I'm fine. Must have just eaten too fast without even knowing it.

Phyllis -- Take a linefrom the movie Network. I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more.

Kathy -- Congrats to you, your husband and family on a full time job.

Brandy -- you are doing great with your weight loss.

Have to go exercise. Had to take the pets to the vet this morning. My dog is day to day week to week. I thought we were going to have to put him down today. They took blood again to see where his renal values are. Two weeks ago he was in the vet and after 4 days of fluids they changed a little. We'll see. He is older and it hurts.

I am asking everyone to please be careful driving when it has rained. The other night my nephew hit a low spot on the road where Water was. His car hydroplaned and he crashed into one of the overpass poles . He needed to be removed from his car with the jaws of life after removing his car door and half of his steering wheel. He was wearing his seat belt. He will be OK. He had surgery and lost his spleen. His stomach and colon were shifted to the other side of his body and had herniated into his diaphragm. To top it off after the accident someone took his school laptop, his books and his Nintendo Wii. Talk about low. So please be careful. Thanks.

How low can you go. Stealing from an accident victim! Hydroplaning is the pits. On the highway that I take part of the way home, hydroplaning is not unusual. Also, watch out for roads at the very start of a rain. That's the time that the oil on the road gits ya.

Hi Breadlady,

Glad to hear the Chinese food went down ok. Up until very recently, if I chugged down the food my jaw sort of locked. Talk about psychosomatic! Unfortunately, everything is going down too easily now. I think I having a fill at my appointment Thursday, but my surgeon's office is so vague about these things. Sigh.

Anyway, enjoy your dinner. Mine isn't for several hours yet.

Is anyone else losing weight in their breasts??? Mine is coming off other places too, as I can tell in my clothes, but my boobs sure are getting saggy! I mentioned to DD11 the other day and then the next time she saw me naked, she goes "Mom..you're right...your boobs are getting saggy!" I told her to help me save for that breast lift I'll be needing!

I sure am! I can tell by my clothes and bra. Definitely looser. B)

Hi, not sure why, but really having trouble logging in and staying on here! Hope all is well with everyone! I read about how the breasts are shrinking and I have noticed that too! My bras aren't filled out in the cups like they were. Not complaining though, cause I am much larger in that area than I would like to be anyway, but definitely a difference!

I have had a fill and currently have 3 in my band. However, I can still eat quite a bit! Just not meat and breads! Is this pretty much what everyone is finding?

Kathy, sorry I missed you last evening!

Jeannie- I have 7 ccs in my 10cc band and I can eat anything. Now, bread can not be plain, it has to be in a sandwich, and then no problem. No problem with meat, rice ( which I have had plain), eggs of any sort, cake... I knew I was a great eater! No wonder I weighted a ton, food just agrees with me.

Auntie Phyl- how did the fill go.

I just got my last fill last Wednesday and the first day and a half I felt like I had restriction and after that hell I was hungry and could eat well over my 1/2 cup so this morning I called my doctors PA. Last Wednesday when she did the fill she told me that if I find that I am eating more than a 1/2 cup after 2 weeks to give her a call and we would 'tweek' it but otherwise I wasn't to see her for a month. Well this morning I called and told them I can eat whatever and I don't feel like I have any restriction. The nurse talked to the PA and called me back. I am going back in this Thursday for a second fill. I have the 10cc band and they put 4.6cc in last week. Now I am all freaked out thining I am going to get to my max and then what? When we lose weight our bands losen around our stomach so what happens if they get to 10 and have no more room to fill? Do we just stop losing? Now I wish he would have put the smaller band in. The PA told me that alot of doctors just use the 10cc band and not to ever worry about not having enough room for restriction (this was last week when I thought I would have restriction with the fill) and now I am all worried. I am going to talk to her about my worries on Thursday. HO HUM :cry

I was really second guessing myself to go to the Y today. I kept thinking 'one day won't hurt' and then after a while I got mad at myself because that is exactly what got me where I am at and I got up off my butt and went. Wasn't happy about going but at least I made myself.

Just feeling really blue today. The weather is crappy and dreery outside and I am tired and just feeling weepy. :think Sorry for being such a complainer tonight.

Here are pictures of the cabin we stayed in - note Andrew's set up at the table! (BTW, this is what an Alaska cabin will look like on the inside, not fancy, but this was a NICE cabin!) And my ring...the diamond is now a full carat! (It was a 1/2 carat - still large for me.) Note the eye-searing gleam!

I got my first fill. The numbing shot and the fill took less than a minute. When I got there, the nurse asked if I brought the card I was given at the hospital stating what size band I have. The hospital didn't give me anything. She had two needles, one big 4cc and one small 2cc. They had to call the hospital. She gave me 2cc and said the band is 10cc.

I'm not allowed to eat yet, I hope I feel something. I'm thinking I won't.

Hi Everyone.

I had a good exercise day so here goes.....

Walking Record

I did 30 minutes on the treadmill. A couple of hours after that I took a 5 minute walk to the grocery store. About 3 hours after the grocery store walk I was watching a public television special on an Afro-Cuban singer from back in the days named "La Lupe." The music in the show was so rhythmic that I walked to the beat for 30 minutes. I only broke a tiny sweat but hey, its better than nothing, lol.

In terms of my food, well, thats another story. I had about 3.5 bottles of Water today. I didn't follow "Ruby's Water Rules" like I wanted to. Breakfast and lunch were ok but dinner? ....I messed that up big time. I made pork chops and "fake me out" creamed spinach (spinach blended with cottage cheese...its missing something that should have given it that "ooomph"...Any suggestions Lynette?). I had a whole pork chop, about 3/4 cup of the creamed spinach and 15 minutes later I followed that up with a fudgsicle. That was waaaay too much food for 1 sitting. I'm hoping the extra walking will counteract the extra food. I can't wait for my fill on Friday!!!!

Only4me

I understand your pain re: eating during times of stress and the black hole. I recently went through a break up with my ex only 3 weeks after surgery. It hurt so badly (and still hurts some)...worse than other break ups I've been thru before and I think it partly hurt so bad because I wasn't able to eat away some the pain. That could be part of the reason why I ate so much tonite. I hope u will be able to get past the pain you are feeling re: your son. Its hard when you can't rely on food as much as before for comfort but you will make it thru just like I will. Just like we all will.

HI,

Everything went very well today. I was surprised at how long it took, though, because most of you have said you were in and out in just a few minutes. The doctor took me to x-ray to do it under fluoroscopy. He seemed to have a lot of difficulty placing the needle. I think he rolled that x-ray thing back over my stomach 4-5 times checking the placement before he got it right.

Jackie, I have a 10cc band, also, and he put in 3cc. He wants me to come back in four weeks, so I have another appointment for Oct. 8th. I weighed exactly the same as I did when I was there on August 7th, so I was definitely READY for this fill!! I hope this jump starts my weight loss again!!

I have to be on liquids the rest of today and tomorrow. Wed. I can have mushy and then slowly progress back to normal.

OMG I HAVE MISSED SO MUCH. It is going to take days to catch up. I went to my reunion over labor day weekend then I came home and got strep throat. I was in bed for 3 days and then my 5 yrs old got it. It is so misrable. However on a good note I did lose a couple of pounds from not being able to eat. I would not recommend this option though. Well Im going to try to get caught up on the posts. I hope everyone is doing well. Only 3 more weeks till my 1st fill so I think I just might make my first goal of onederland by Halloween.

Tenille, We'll all be pulling for you to make your goal. Hope you are feeling better!

Wow. I have been so busy, and haven't been able to keep up at all!! I'm working ALL the time, not to mention school, trying to find a new job, and move! It's crazy.

I finally got my first fill Friday, so hopefully my weight will start dropping now. Instead of yo-yoing (which is what its done for the past few months)

There is no way I have time to go back and read, so if someone would be willing to fill me in on any important news, I'd greatly appreciate it...

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
