May 28-31st Sleeve Week!

Surgery week folks! Today our 27s go through surgery and we will keep this thread going for a week while we all get sleeved!

It's FINALLY arrived, I don't know about you, but I am excited, anxious, nervous and did I say excited? I am SOOO over trying to figure out the next diet to do that will rebound in a few months. At last I have a tool that will WORK forever!

Get your lip balm and Gas-x strips ready and I heard a heating pad can be awesome for stubborn gasses in your back and shoulders the first few days, can't hurt to take it with you! If you are in a big busy hospital and might have to share a room, bring ear plugs and an eye mask... you may not need it but better to have it if you do. Don't forget to get up walking as soon as possible, it helps the gas go away. Excited to see how everyone does!

These folks are playing with my emotions. First they tell me I'm all clear of a leak, then they come back an hour later and tell me I need to re do the leak test for fear of a pin hole leak. Loss of control of my emotions round 1.

How do they do the leak test? I would be emotional too!

Had surgery this morning and doing pretty well! In room now and super tired. Pain in my shoulders from gas is worse than my stomach which isnt bad at all. Will be up walking soon and no food til tomorrow which is ok .. I'M NOT HUNGRY!! lol

So awesome we have each other for support this week! And it does really help us late week surgeries to hear how everyone is doing so a big THANK YOU for your posts!

Made it home. Sipping every 10-15 min to keep hydrated. 2 more days of clear liquids then on to purée. Hope everyone else is doing great. Still burping with each sip! Lol they said that would stop eventually.

You have to take large gulps of contrast while rotating as the radiologist instructs you and takes images. It turned out that the radiologist was concerned b/c my pouch has a jagged edge. Thank goodness there isn't a leak!

My leak test was done at time of surgery. Dr sends fluid into new stomach and check for leaks before ending surgery. Not sure I could have drank anything for a radiologist to check me afterwards.

Anyone else get a pic of their new stomach? I might be weird but I think it's the coolest thing!

Yay! So glad to hear everything went well. Did you do the gas strips? Let me know if it helped. I still need to go get some.

Congrats! So happy for you.

Surgery was yesterday: dr stopped in today said everything went great... They do a leak test during surgery but another the following day: do I did go down to have that done... All is well and I was brought a tray of liquids: jello, broth, tea, water ice. Water. Pain isn't bad and the nausea has gotta better since they took me off morphine drip- now I have a pain patch

I brought them but have not used it. My nurse didn't say not to use it but advised I'd be better without. They want you to have and pass gas to be able to get out of here lol

Interesting. That's what I was told. My nurse said that she doesn't see huge gas issues but

Then she doesn't know what happens after the patient is discharged.
