Congrats on your decision! I have no regrets. I am 6 days post op. the nerves will not leave you until it's done. You did your research, planned a course , not just put it in the hands of your medical team. The pain has been minimal, ( except for the gas) walk, walk, walk. Sip, sip, sip. Listen to your new tummy- I couldn't get all my liquids in till day 4 post op, each day I would just keep at it. Let us know how your doing after surgery! Be kind to yourself

Ok 17ers... We are almost there! I just finished my preregistration with the nurse. That was my LAST appointment before the big day. I report to the hospital at 8:45 tomorrow. I will shop for liquid stuff today so all of that is on hand for next week. My hubby and daughter are both going to share that day with me so I will not be alone. We all said it seemed so far off. It then you blink at it was here. Well, yes....... But I still wish I had this over with. I am worried like everyone else about the pain, gas, etc that we will likely experience from this surgery, but I know that in most cases time will be the healer and I am up for that and prepared for it. This is thanks to all of you on this site that share your knowledge and experiances. It always helps to know what I am feeling is not abnormal.... In fact I am completely normal! :-). Wow.... What a great feeling that gives me.

I just got back from my pre-op appointment too! They took blood, did an EKG, chest x-ray and urine. Met with my Dr. to ask any questions and sign a bunch of papers. I am so excited and ready for the procedure to be over and start healing! Good luck to everyone...will be thinking about y'all!

Tomorrow is the day!! First surgery at 7:30am!! Scared out of my mind. Not for the pain, nausea or journey. Just for the surgery itself and any complications. I have had a hysterectomy and that was fine. Never worried. Not sure why I'm worried so much. I just wish it was over, I'm awake and I start this journey. No Preop diet was needed for me from my doc but decided to start one on Saturday anyways. Lost 5 pounds already!! I know this is the best thing for me but give me a Xanax when I walk through those hospital doors! Wish me luck!!

If your nerves get the best of you tomorrow morning- ask anesthesia to give your something to relax you. Best of luck

So excited and also terrified. I'm dealing with chronic back pain, so the thought that I will have to deal with more pain is scaring me.

Yup, getting packed and ready to go. Last thing I am going to do though is take my weight on the fitbit scale and then take a picture of myself. This is the beginning of my journey on the other side. I want to document it all the way! Good luck everyone.

All done, 12 hrs since surgery. Walked four times today. Walking is a must! This last walk I had so much air and I couldn't burp it out. Got nauseated and about threw up but managed to get five good ones out and didn't throw up! Doing very well! 8 of us here had surgery, mine wasn't the first but I was the first walking. Thank you all of you sleevers for posting your experience so I knew what to do going in!

Hope all is well with the rest of the 17th sleevers!

I was sleeved on the 17th. Doing ok, except for nausea. Hate that! No gas pain, no other real pain as the pain meds are keeping that under control. No problem getting Water in, and no problem getting walks in. Just can't get control over the dry heaving. Making me miserable. I did go home last night. sleeping has been no problem.

Had my surgery on the 17th. I am back home since this afternoon. Feeling tired and trampled on at the surgical sites. The drain felt weird when they pulled it out but no pain. i feel its challenging to keep up with the Water, but at least i could keep down the broth and some tea. I chewed on a cube of Jello but i afraid that i might swallow it whole so i just chewed on one. Tomorrow i will try pureed the egg or some cottage cheese then a Protein Shake along my Vitamins, CoQ 10, and EFA. I hope i do not gag. Also for those that just had the surgery, positive energy towards you and your family.

I am not sure when I can move forward past the clear liquid food. So far broth, Popsicles, Jello, and Water is all that I have eaten. I know my hunger is going to come back if I do not eat soon. I will check with the dr tomorrow.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
