Hardest thing for you?

Recommended Posts

Missing soda. I'm so tired of fruity flavored drinks. I want a Coke Zero so badly.

Also, I would say knowing my limits. I'm still on liquids and I never really feel 'full'.

I am 5 months post op and miss the euphoric high I would get from eating when upset. I don't think I will get that feeling ever again, unless I start doing drugs I guess lol.

The hardest thing is all the compliments on my weight loss. Now that it's spring, I'm seeing a lot of clients and people I haven't seen in a long time. They all compliment me on how great I look. Even the guys are mentioning it. I've never been one to seek attention, so it's kind of embarrassing.

As for all the other "stuff", I don't miss anything because I'm not restricting myself. If I want it, I eat it. I didn't have surgery to be on a diet for the rest of my life. Fortunately a little taste is all it takes to satisfy. I'm only 4 months out, so that may change, but so far so good.

Committing to exercise on a weekly basis. At one point in my life I would hit the gym like a pro and it burned me out. I hate routine! Begrudgingly, I put my work out clothes on and either do the gazelle in the house for 15-20 minutes and when the weather is nice outside I will take a long walk (I live in MN so the weather is predictable thru May). Some days/weeks are hit and miss.

So far the hardest thing for me is dealing with ongoing Constipation.< /p>

If you can, take a magnesium supplement daily.

so would you say that the sleeve doesnt make it easier?

Realizing that I would still be hungry, and that every day was not weight loss day. That despite having cut out 85% of my stomach, I would still have to be very careful what I ate and how much I ate. Every. Single. Day.

I totally agree with all of the above. When I get a compliment, "You look great" my brain hears ..." last year you looked liked poo-poo!"

so would you say that the sleeve doesnt make it easier?

It makes it easier in that if I eat Protein first, I fill up faster which limits the damage I can do. At any given time, I don't think it could eat like before. I haven't tried but it wouldnt be possible.

What makes I difficult perhaps are my expectations. Some days, It makes me mad that even after surgery and eating low cal, I can't just eat whenever and whatever I want. I still have to weigh, track, measure, and control calories. At first I wasn't hungry, these days I am sometimes hungry but can't eat unless I want to go over My calories which I don't.

It's def much much easier now because if I do what I should, which is limit carbs and calories, I lose weight. Before the sleeve, I didn't lose weight eating 1200 calories. Now, I do lose and I avg around 800-900 calories.

Just to be clear--best dang thing I've done for myself apart from getting married and having kids. No regrets.

Bu I still have to be careful and so does everyone else who is maintaining successfully. The vets on this board said that. I heard them. I thought I understood and I did, intellectually. I just didn't understand from the heart until this month.

It makes it a LOT easier. It just doesn't make it a given, unless you do your part.

Tomorrow makes 2 weeks for me but hands down waiting the 30 minutes to drink after eating has been the hardest. I am adjusting to the change and knew it would be challenging but my daughter and I both r doing it. Hate it but definitely doing what I gotta do. Head hunger was a doozie as well but after the ah ha moment and figuring out that's what was going on I've been redirecting myself.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
