Andrew0929 got a reaction from Dub in June 2021- calling all Vets!
I’m 7.5 years out. After losing 130 lbs I hovered at about 15 lbs over that up until about 3 months ago. Oddly, I’ve been gaining while consuming about the same calories and carbs as well as same level of exercise. Now up about 27 lbs from lowest level.

Not sure what to do, but I suppose the obvious is lowering calories and carbs and at least maintaining exercise levels.

My wife and I laughed when reading this thread as we've noticed the same changes. I have to be very careful now to not hurt her as I'm not used operating this large equipment.

Andrew0929 got a reaction from J San in Time to stop losing weight!
    Congratulations!!

I had the same concern after dropping from 325 to 167. My dr kept emphasizing that my body would figure out an appropriate level and remain there. I was skeptical but he was right.

I’ve continued doing the same things (still weighing, logging and exercising) and now 4.5 years later have at or about 177.

First off, I'm not calling myself skinny...yet...but I've noticed a couple of things with my body that I'm surprised about that I wasn't expecting since I've lost so much weight.
First off...how the hell do you shave your armpits when they've turned into a cave?? I swear, my armpits are so sucked in now, it takes me 15 minutes to try to shave them....as off tonight, they're pretty hairy because I gave up.
Also, it's uncomfortable to sleep on my side because my now boney knees hurt when they're rubbing against each other....I've tried putting pillows and blankets between them but I can't sleep with that stuff between my legs...sigh.
And don't get me started about my boney butt on hard chairs and toilet seats!!
I am constantly cold and am not looking forward to the upcoming Canadian winter. My husband is already agitated with all the layers I wear to bed as it is.
But even with all these new "problems", I still wouldn't change any of it for the world!!
So what are your "skinny people problems" you weren't expecting??

my jaw dropped in amazement, and i did a double take in disbelief
irresponsible to make such a statement to the public
everyone has the right to have their own thoughts about WLS
    there is freedom of speach
    freedom to be ignorant/irresponsible???

Rosie has a long history of being an imbecile. Her a$$holiness never ceases to amaze me. Sorry to resort to name-calling, but she brings out the worst in me ...
Like many in Hollywood, she's confusing her fame with being a subject matter expert.

Her comments weren't really about the surgery, she was just using the occasion to take a pot-shot at a Republican. People like her inject their political views into every miniscule aspect of their day. Then they turn around and call everyone else "mean-spirited."
If she were speaking about, oh say...Michael Moore choosing the lap-band procedure, she would not have said what she did.
    It's sickening.

Yes, but what does WHOOPIE have to say about it?!
Really, WHO CARES. It's a silly chat show where they spend all of their time talking over each other anyway. And not one of them would influence any life altering decision I would make by what their "opinions" are on the subject. I leave that to professionals, family and friends. Not some overbearing, self serving buffoons that flap their jaws for a living and think people really care about what they have to say. Just sayin'.

I honestly don't feel that Rosie or The View owe any follow up apologies. I jumped on Rosie because I can't stand her. To me, it's just more crap coming out of the woman's mouth. I agree with above.....it's a talk show, and they all have their opinions. They talk about so many things that I don't agree with. Too much liberal thinking for my taste. On rare occasion I would watch the program. Now that Rosie is on board, I never watch it.

Let me just take a moment here to reiterate what some have already stated. WLS no mater the modality of it is all dependent on the patient. With the sleeve or bypass the results are faster and yes they are both restrictive and metabolic in nature and yet our bodies are a miracle of humanity and we can and do overcome and adapt. After that initial weight loss and shock the body can adapt and if eating habits, eating mechanics, attitude and life style changes are not been made the chances of regain in the long term are equal.
No one can say that one surgery is better then another. Recently I read a post by a patient who was diagnosed with Lupus. A lupus patient can not have such mal-absorptive surgeries as sleeve or bypass due to their condition which makes the lapband the perfect and only choice for such a patient.
No one of us is better or worse then the other. You can't say that people have not done their research, many of us who are banded have done more research then a college student writing a doctorate. I have my reasons for choosing the band and I have no regrets about it.
Making broad statements like those made by Rosie O'Donell in public forum only show her own ignorance and lack of empathy for the obese. Maybe she never saw her self as obese, but her health conditions, photo's and doctors tell another story all together don't they?
Don't knock those who are trying to make their lives better and become healthy. A smart intelligent woman would use her big mouth, comedic wit, and additional 5 minutes of fame to advocate for her comrades at large and open doors instead of shutting them as she did with her comments.
People who might have been thinking about getting help now maybe afraid that their "choice" is not the right one because some TV personality who has nothing better to do with her time but to cause controversy said it wasn't. She just called several Doctors who are banded, Lawyers, PHD's and people much smarter with higher educations then she has stupid.
Forest Gump had it right...stupid as stupid does aka Rosie O'Donelle.

On the subject of which surgery is better than the other? With all surgeries, the jury is out until we're in our graves. As most of us who have struggled with food addiction all our lives know, we've had long periods of maintaining weight loss, only to have it slip away at some point. That's how we ended up here.....on BP.
The surgery, whichever one we chose, is a tool. And people gain weight all the time after WLS.....at some point. I'm not saying that everyone does, but many do. The jury is still out on Rosie O, and she should be a bit more humble when she opens her (big) mouth. But that's who she is, and she may be "eating crow" sometime down the road. We'll see her on some show talking about revision surgery She should take note of someone like Carnie Wilson, who is very humble and open about her struggles; never pointing fingers at anyone else's choice. Beauty and grace; everything Rosie is not.
