Do you eat regular or non/lo fat versions of food?

Recommended Posts

I will opt for reduced fat versions of some things I would normally add to a food, such as mayo or cheese, though I do buy regular butter and use it occasionally. Red meat I will buy with a moderate amount of fat, and I do leave the skin on my chicken and eat that. The one exception is sour cream. For some reason, the fat-free sour cream tastes better than reduced fat!

Try to eat healthy meals.. Low fat meats, milk, etc. However, I do at times have a meal that is considered higher in fat and calories. And I think it is ok to break the monotony of eating . I don't feel guilty when I eat this type of meal. I just eat a smaller portion. I've learned to undo my all or nothing attitude of eating that got me in trouble all my life. It is great in feeling less guilty.

I rarely even look at fat when I buy. I mostly focus on carbs. I agree that since we can only eat a little amount, I want it to taste good! ;)

I mostly eat the full fat version of whatever I'm having. I buy full fat cheese except I will buy 2% Kraft singles because I can't tell a difference and rarely eat them anyway. I'll buy light swiss cheese laughing cow wedges, again, flavor is good. I also buy Fage 0% plain yogurt and add my own chemicals (stevia in he raw). Other than that, I use very little mayo, butter, milk, salad dressing, sour cream, etc. So if I have any of that, I measure and count the calories.

Interestingly, I track my calories on MFP, and I'm surprised at how high my diet is in fat as a percentage. I really only count calories, though I avoid processed carbs, going for mostly Protein, and I do avoid added fats. Still, it ends up being about 1/3 of my diet. All of my cholesterol and other labs are fine, so I'm not worrying about it right now. I am gradually refining my diet over time, anyway. I notice that I'm increasingly looking at organic and natural foods, and steadily moving away from processed things. Guess when you eat so little, it's normal to focus on quality over quantity. I don't picture myself ever being a health nut, though ;)

i tend to eat things i like (and since i can only eat so much due to my WLS) i make sure it is worth it...food is GREAT and it is delicious.....i see it very differently now that i my eating and my life has changed..i thought if did not have a bag of BBQ per day with a six pack of beer i would die...well flash forward 22 months, i am still around and now i crave (crave be key word) and prefer fresh veggies and lean Proteins and actually taste/enjoy real food...sure some things are a bit pricey (96% lean beef or filet migon (dinner for me tonight).......to surmise, eat what you like and what tastes good....and dont focus/over think eating (i use to)......eat to live and not live to eat...

I don't use many diet products. My exceptions - sweet n low, milk (skim) and I occasionally eat a luna bar, and occasionally a Protein shake.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
