Starting Mushies

Recommended Posts

So next week is three weeks I have been banded...and I start mashies/ soft food. Some examples on my list is tuna salad, eggs, runny oatmeal ect.. I am actually terrified to start eating. Did anyone have trouble with mushiness ? Or will it all go down easy?

Great time to practice mindful eating -- learning how to take it slow and wait before another bite is such a good thing. Congratulations on getting to this next phase! I liked steamed cauliflower a lot -- wash a whole head really well, steam it thoroughly then hit it with the stick blender or food processor. I add broth to make it smooth and some seasoning, like salt and pepper, a little ground coriander. To me this was like a delicious savory pudding. And I think I am some one that needs veggie Fiber, so there's that.

hello there mca98 the mushy stuff went down really easy as long as they weren't too thick, remember to make them that way. don't be fearful of eating...that's not good either...needless worry dearheart...each step of the way you make progress and things inside are healing. pretty soon you will be hungry thinking you could eat a bear...LOLRH!!! you will do fine...Congrats and welcome to Bandland!!! Like Bandista said even with the mushy stuff you can learn to slow down your eating habits and even chew better when you can. that was my biggest challenge!!! we are here for ya so hang in there and use us when you need too.

Congrats to moving on:-) You'll do just fine, remember to take it slooooow and to start paying attention to what your band and your body is telling you, watch for those soft and hard stop signals, anything that you notice to be reoccuring when you are eating this could be your soft stop like hiccups, burps, sneezing, nose running etc.. I didn't experience any problems during this stage. Refried Beans were my favorite, hit with a quick puree, I also would do cottage cheese (small curd), scrambled eggs etc. Steamed cauliflour with a wedge of laughing cow cheese pureed. Keep us posted on how you're doing!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
