APRIL 21st Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Thought I would start and specific date thread so we can keep tabs on each other. I'm going to RE-introduce myself by pasting a previous post. Hope we can all get to know each other and provide support!!

My name is Sabrine and I am 36 yrs old. I am married for six years now. I've been having weight issues all of my life. Highest weight ever in high school was 374 pounds. Then I lost 200 pounds using ephedra. Once they yanked that off the shelves I slowly gained most of the weight back. Starting this journey December 30, 2013 my weight was 326 pounds. Began going to all of my doctors appointments and my preoperative tests. And I made my own personal lifestyle changes in preparation for the sleeve. Current weight is 279 pounds. My date is April 21, 2014. I have no home support for this whatsoever. My husband is against it as well as my sisters and my mother. I'm nervous scared and excited. I have two amazing kids Jackson is four and Olivia is 15 months. I'm having some serious second thoughts about this since I am losing weight and seeing results. I think I've bitched about it to anybody who will listen. Lol. Okay. Now it's somebody else's turn. What's your story???

I'm April 21st, too. Been waiting over 10 years for this, but insurance wouldn't cover it. Hubby got a job last fall with the U.S. government, so now I get my chance. I'm 55, married. Son is married with 3.5 children. Dtr is sophomore in college & going to nursing school in the fall. Dtr-in-law is a nurse also. I work full time. Started this process last fall. Got approval about 3 weeks ago. Start pre-op diet April 10th. I guess I've been lucky that my family & friends have been very supportive. Hubby wasn't thrilled at 1st, but respects my decision. I've had 2 back surgeries& also have RA & fibromyalgia. I'm hoping weight loss will help those issues. Top weight was 280, currently at 275. So now just waiting for time to pass.

Now that I don't have any tests to worry about or more appointments I feel the time is CRAWLING by. It's killing me. I start my preop the 7th. Nervous about how well I'm gonna stick to it. Some people gave a three day preop. How can I get me some of that!!

Hi I'm Eboni. I'm 41, married with 3 boys 14, 9, and a soon to 1 yr old on the 16th. I was thin growing up. I ate what I want and didn't start noticing weight until Senior yr in high school. Been on the down up roller coaster since then. A friend of mine was sleeved may of 2013. I was still unsure about it until I saw her results. I'm 275 I have no energy and this is just me. I've tried Everything so I'm doing the sleeve it's time to take control of my weight my health before it gets even more out of control. I have a 1 yr old to chase around. That I want to chase around. I'm excited and nervous, I know it will not be easy but nothing in life worth having ever is.

Hey I'm Stephanie, I'm 28 and I have no children yet. Tried for yrs but can't due to my size. I've always been heavy every since I was a child. Lost 50 lbs in college due to lifestyle change, but gained back all and some more once back home. Highest weight was 297, now 287 and can't wait to finally see a smaller number. I'm done with all my testing and just got my insurance approval today in the mail.com. I really don't have much support, only from mom and fiance. All my friends are health nuts and don't believe in this, they believe good old fashioned exercise is the way to go. They don't get it and understand, they have been skinny their whole lives. But can't wait to April 21st for this. Monday I start my two week diet and ready for it!

Stephanie I know how you feel. My friend had a lot of negativity when she had it done. Now some of those same people are asking her about the sleeve. I chose to keep my surgery to my self. Hubby my mom aunt and a few close friends are all who know. I plan to keep it that way for a while. This is for me and it's my life.

I feel bad at times for lying to them about the procedure. They know i'm surgery but they don't know for what though. They think i'm getting something repaired and don't have to explain much.

I don't think of it as lying. This is a personal matter!! I CHOOSE to tell someone it's my choice! And everyone around me always has an opinion on something, like suddenly they are experts about ME! I took a weeks vacation, and that's all work needs to know about.

I guess we all start on the 7th...anyone having food funerals?

I don't think of it as lying either. It's no ones business but our own. It should be our choice if we tell someone. The people that I chose to tell are very supportive and that's what I prefer.

My pre op is a week. However this week is my last of a few things. Fried foods coffee since I don't care for it black. I've also been trying some Protein drinks out this week and using my Nutribullet. I figured that could be something useful in the soft food/full liquid stage.

That's what I need to invest in! A good blender like the ninja or bullet. I had my food funeral of Chinese today and I was actually a good girl! Had sautéed bok choi, some skewer grilled chicken. Only bad thing was fried crab wontons but they are so dang good I couldn't resist.

I ordered my medifast for my pre op on Monday. I never had it so I hope it's good.

I recently bought a bullet, was quite excited about it. But I went to Red Lobster today, got shrimp Alfredo and good old cheddar biscuits. I didn't even feel sad, I was excited that My life is changing. I loveeeeee this type of food, but I'm ready to change.

Yeah. Me too!! Trying to get to Joe's Crab Shack but I ran outta time!! Lol. And you're right. I didn't feel sad about the food. It was more like "I'll see you later" than "you're out of my life forever"

It's time for a change.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
