Laura,

Same with me...just a couple of big hiccups and I know I am done. LOL! I find that sooooo funny! I like it though....once I hiccup I gotta drop the fork, push the plate away, and wake away from the table. Congrats on all your weight loss!

I am sooooooo upset I want to CRY or eat a greasy cheese burger! OK, at this point I am telling myself to calm the hell down! I did stop taking my diuretic...maybe its Water? ?? My TOM is still 2 weeks away!!! FRUSTRATION has just sunk in!!! UUUUUUUUUUGGGG....AAAAARRRRRR!!

Interesting.

I pulled up my benefits to see whether everything had been taken care of regarding my surgery. The surgeon I use charges $14,500 all-in for self-pay patients. The amount charged to the insurance company was $32,630.03

Quite the difference! The plan eventually ended up paying $19,138.67.

Just random observations this Wed morning

Hello to all of you May Bansters!!

I go for my first fill on Monday, July 2. It is a good thing, because I get really hungry and could eat much more if I wanted to do that. So far, on my scales I'm at 21 pounds lost since the 31st(band day). I am just ready to feel more "fullness". I also have had no trouble with any foods. I don't think that I have, thus, taken the care to chew all the time as I should. The fill will help me remember that-or at least I hope that it does. Otherwise, this has been a great experience thus far. I have been on two short trips and have not gained-a miracle for me!!

jsrico...

Sorry to hear you're so frustrated. Did you take measurements before you started, measure again. How do your clothes feel? You might be loosing inches and gaining muscle from the exercise even though the weight is not going down. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat, and if you're exerciseing well the muscle will build quickly and that's good, it will raise you metabolism and you will see results in the future. Hang in there, you can do this!!!

I wouldn't be surprised if the change in meds had something to do with it too. Keep drinking your Water, your body will eventually figure our that it doesn't have to store it.

This WILL work, you CAN do this!!!

so, have your docotors explained why exactly they put you back onto a liquid diet after a fill? Just curious. I got a fill of 2.2 in a 10cc band on sat. and I am starving already, so I ate some soft food. do you think that will hurt anything? I am going to be scheduling another fill already for like another week or so because I know that I dont have enough yet.

Kaylali - I was on liquid for two days and then on to mushies but I ate a small slice of pizza very slowly with lots of chewing and it went down fine. i'm thinking that won't be the case after the next fill. It's in my nature to test my limits and so I know that until i get tight enough to PB I will continue to eat things I shouldn't.

I was down another pound today but since it is in a new decade I think I will give it a few days before I put it on my ticker to make sure I didn't jump the gun. It's soooo great to see the needle moving down the scale instead of up for once.

I made the decision to not tell anyone except my husband and kids about my surgery. Well I went out to dinner with a coworker/friend the other night. We have always talked about weight since we were both very thin at one time and needless to say now we are both heavy. Well during dinner she started to tell me that she looked into the band but she could not do it. Insurance would only pay if she had other issues which she doesn't and she did not want to spend the money for self pay. Etc etc....

The long and short of it is.....I sat there and lied to my friends face and I could not hate myself more!!!! I did not know what to do, I know that if I owned up to it, not only would she be upset that I did not tell her, but the news would get out. I also know that it made her feel bad that I ate very healthy and she did not, She kept saying "your being so good and I am not" and believe me I know how that feels having been on the other side many many times.

:lie:

So I just needed to tell someone how horrible I feel! Thanks for listening!

Good morning fellow May Bandsters!

I went for a fill on Monday and it wasn't so good an experience. I have the VG band which holds 11 cc's. The doctor put 4 cc's in and sent me on my way. While I was driving back to work I felt nauseous but didn't think too much of it. Well, within an hour I was throwing up my one saliva and getting sicker by the minute. I had a co-worker take me back to the doctors and he met me at his office. He drew out 2 of the 4 cc's and it was such a relief. I have restriction but I don't know how long it will last. I told his assistant I would rather have more fills more often than go thru that again!

After all I have been thru (I was banded on the 4th of May and spent the weekend in the hospital and had to be re-banded on the 7th) I still absolutely LOVE my band and wouldn't go back to pre-band life for the world!!

Well I am super frustrated with my band. I feel like I am starving all the time. I had my first fill on the 20th and it is not offering me any restriction. I am going in on the 9th for a second fill and am really hoping it does something.

I am tired of being hungry an hour after I eat!

So I just needed to tell someone how horrible I feel! Thanks for listening!

That really sucks! I decided just to tell everyone before I got it. Maybe someday you will open up to your friend and tell her you didnt tell her because it was very personal for you. Then again maybe not!

I know how you feel about eating with friends who are overweight and eating crap foods. My friends do that and I dont judge them because i am the same way. But at the same time when I tell them i have reached some sort of goal or pants are fitting looser they just say "oh I hate you". The other night everyone got appetizers and I kind of looked like the odd ball for waiting for my food. Anyway you are not alone!!

Thanks Ragdoll......I knew going in that I would hate to lie to people but that is the decision I made......I have read a lot of posts about people who wish they could un-tell people. I guess its not easy either way!

I know how you feel about eating better in front of your friends, I have had many times where I say "hate you" about someone losing weight (jokingly) its just weird to be on the receiving end!!!

My pants are all loose now too, scale seems stuck but clothes are loose!! Good for you, keep up the good work!

So, I had my first fill Tuesday.

I must say that I don't feel anything different. Just as before I can eat just about anything without problems.

I'm being good, but my issue has always been portion control/boredom eating and not hunger problems. Should I go back in and get a floro-enhanced fill? I really need/want that restrictor plate effect.

Very personal decision on how much to share. I've pretty much told everyone (family, co-workers, classmates in my M.S. program) about my surgery and my goals. Some were curious about how it worked, and many were suprised when I told them that the band was intended to stay there forever, but all have been very supportive.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
