I also have BCBS IL! Are they strict about where you have surgery? I've gone to North Shore so far and have an appt at UChicago and thinking about checking out U of IL program. I may check out Little Company since a lot of people seem to like the place but I'm just concerned about the distance (I live in Lakeview) and pain after surgery!

I have BCBSIL PPO. You are fine as long as they are a PPO hospital and doctor. Most hospital and doctors are

He was great.................. My scare looks like a little zit.......... Lol............... Plus we worked with me... I had to pay some part of the surgery so he allowed me to leave after 23 hrs so I wouldn't be charged more......... Their hole group was great........... He even gave me his personal cell number if I had questions after my surgery

How was the process before surgery? Did you heave to go throw a bunch of hoops?

Happy Easter Everyone! I am picking up the CPAP machine on Friday and then I have the dietary nutrition class on 5/3. Then I am done with the requirement. I am really hoping for a 1st week of June date. I have BCBSMI insurance. The Dr's office had to actually mail in my paperwork for approval. So 1990's! Hoping to get approval this week.

Hey Chi town! What's going on? How is everyone doing? I'm half thru my pre op and surgery is scheduled for Monday. Pre ops been rough but I'm following it... for the most part. Lol. Evening hours are the hardest. What's everyone's current stats? Where are you on this journey?

Good luck today lady!!:)

Today I begin the pre-op diet. Strangely enough, I don't actually have a surgery date, so this is a 'just in case we find a slot for you' sort of thing. If on Wednesday they haven't found a way to fit me in, I will stop the diet and re-start later.

UIC initially said they couldn't get me a date until June. Several weeks after I sent them a letter (and began the process of switching to a new surgeon), UIC called saying they would try to slide me in at the beginning of May. Regardless of the surgery date I have decided to switch back to UIC.

By the way, those of you who went through UIC, what tests were required after you got the surgery date?

Blue Cross is weird but it varies between HMO and PPo. The physicians also play a role in how they want THEIR program to run. This can shorten or lengthen the process. My first doctor took me through 9 months of various testing and my second dr saw me once and then scheduled the surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
