  1. Don't understand...... I'm 5'11 had mine done bye dr. Lufti in November...... Their team was great.... My surgeon is Dr. Tiesenga, he was the one who stated that to me.
  2. St.Joseph's does it but you have to be a particular height, according to my surgeon. He said I was too tall (5'7) for it.

  4. Lucky you! I have to do 2-week liquids only diet. I would stick to what your Dr recommends. The pre-op diet is mostly to shrink the liver a bit and also to show that you actually did the diet and can make the commitment. Good luck!
  5. How long is your pre-op diet? Mine officially starts on the 23rd but I'm going to start next Monday so I can ease into it a bit since it's a strict liquid diet. Not looking forward to it...
  6. I have BCBS and I'm not required to do a med supervised diet! Double check your med policy! Either way, the doc usually sends your initial BMI but from what I hear the diet is supposed to show that you can't drop a "normal" amount of weight through dieting (25+ lbs). If I were you, I would put in a little less effort the next few months to be on the safe side...
  7. My nutritionist said it's ok to try different powders prior but to not go crazy buying different flavors because chanced are that your taste buds may change a bit after surgery.
  8. July 7 is the day for me! It hasn't hit me yet but I'm ready to get started with this journey!
  9. I'm wondering the same thing except I'm a college student. I'm taking only one class this summer from 1-5pm, three times a week. Will one week off be enough for me to return back to school. I'm more worried about the pain than anything else.
  10. I think the extra 3 months is just how long it will take to get approval from insurance and also the additional appointments needed before surgery. I don't have a lot of requirements but it's not as quick of a progress as I thought it would be. I started back in april the process and I'm looking at maybe a late June/early July surgery date.

  15. After seeing SO MANY threads about this topic, I decided to consult a dermatologist and surgeon about this. They both told me that of course everyone is different but that ultimately it is something that CAN'T be avoided no matter how many pills and products you use. They said that with surgery your body goes through shock and is looking for any kind of resource in your body to stabilize. The body is losing nutrients with surgery and it takes a while for the body to adjust which is why the amount of protein you take doesn't matter initially and why the hair loss lasts a couple of months. It's going to take a few months for the body (and hormones) to stabilize and get back to normal and then your hair starts growing back. Initially I was concerned because I've always had long hair and pride myself in my hair but I also have PCOS which causes my hair to come out in chunks, luckily I don't have any bald spots but it's something that I'm use to so for me a couple more months of hair loss in exchange for weight loss and a new, healthier version of myself is something I'll gladly deal with! Plus, I already have my weave picked out if needed lol.
  16. I'm wondering the same thing! I had my consult with him today.

  18. Wow you look great! Congrats! This is such motivation for me.
  19. I don't think most surgeons would operate on you because your bmi is low and weight loss surgery is usually for people who are severely/morbidly obese.
