Any DC Metro/NoVA/MD folks

I'm on the eastern shore just over the bridge in MD. I'm looking to get VSG in the Spring. Anyone care to share where they are having surgery? Also, if you don't mind, how long after approval was your actual surgery if you've already had it? Thanks in advance!

Hi, my surgery was oct 28th and have recovered very nicely. My only issues were Constipation and I have had a weight loss stall for over a week now. The diet has not been a problem at all. I was very surprised about it. Dr fitzer is not with Bluepoint but he operates out of Fair Oaks Hospital and he did a great job.

Hi Datuh! I am having my surgery at Johns Hopkins as well. I was approved for surgery last month. Unfortunately, it did not come soon enough and my insurance is due to change on December 1. So now I will have to wait until my new insurance company gives the approval before I will get a new surgery date. Who is your surgeon?

I will be using Dr Schweitzer. Does it take that long to get a surgery date that they couldnt get it in with current insurance?

I am going to have Dr. Schweitzer do my surgery also. I am not sure about the sleeve, but I am having bypass surgery and they scheduled my surgery for 6-7 weeks after the insurance company approved me. It was disappointing to say the least. But I trust that things will work out like they are supposed to. I am sure it will work out for you also. :)

Hopefully it works out great for us both. I read and heard and he is a great dr, but not the greatest bedside, very blunt. Sometimes its better to be that way. I kinda got that from him when I did my console with him. I have last apt with nutritionist in am. Scared because I haven't been the greatest, have had a lot going on in last two weeks. Hopefully, all I can do is hope and pray!

Maryland has state requirements for 6 months of nutrition/diet which often slows people down in scheduling surgery.

I live in MD and only had to do a 3 month which was what my insurance required.

Same here. I'm another Marylander who had to show only 3 months, and that was with a VERY recent change from no requirement at all.

I'm in southern NOVA, and my surgery will be at Walter Reed National Medical Center on Dec. 18th. As for making a decision between the Sleeve and Bypass, get your doctors input, and rely on his expert opinion. I had decided that I was all in for the Sleeve, then my doctor let me know that my acid reflux could get worse, so much so that I might have to revise the surgery if it became too bad. I have now settled on the bypass due to my reflux. Best wishes in making your decision, it's a life changer.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
