BAD Headaches lately...

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have been getting really bad headaches and Migraines (the difference is with the Migraine I actually get holes in my vision before a massive long life headache comes on which are usually nauseating) and wondering if any of you have experienced this. I'm 4 months out from surgery and my weight loss is moderate - i've had my 3rd fill which has definitely given me restriction in that I really have to take my time when I eat and I feel each piece of food go thru my band before I eat another bite. I'm wondering if the headaches are hunger headaches even though I'm not feeling the tummy hunger like I was before fill #3.

Plus - what do I take for these headaches??? given that I am unable to swallow any big caplets or take ibuprofen :(

I have a doc appointment on March 3rd, I'll bring it up with him of course - just curious what your experiences have been with headaches post surgery?

thanks!

I was having bad headaches a couple of months ago (nothing like what you're describing, though!). I didn't think to ask my GP about it when I saw her, but I did ask her to check my Vitamins when she did the rest of my labs. I was severely deficient in Vitamin D and started taking 5000 UI a day. A few days after beginning to take the supplement, the headaches were miraculously gone. I did some searching and found out there's a link between the two.

Does Tylenol help your headaches? They sell a liquid form, that I believe is available at most Walgreens.

Good luck at your appointment! I hope they get you figured out!

I haven't had issues with headaches, other than when I try and get off of caffeine. As far as what to take, liquid Tylenol should help. Extra or arthritis strength works best (for me).

I wonder if the weather might have something to do with it? Not sure if you have been experiencing weird weather where you are, but it has been pretty strange this winter.

Also, have you been drinking enough fluids? I find if I am dehydrated, I get bad headaches.

Are you eating anything different that you may have an allergy/intolerance to?

I take tylenol in pill form, but if you are worried you could try the liquid form.

The weather is a big factor for me also with the changes in pressure bringing on cluster headaches. I have no trouble swallowing pills so I will take Advil or Extra strength Tylenol as needed.

If you can't swallow them, they are available in liquid forms and they do not taste badly at all. When I get a fill since I am going back to liquids and mushy for a few days my body will sometimes fight back and I get a headache. So it could be a bit of a combination of things going on for you, but you should defiantly check it out with the doctor on your visit.

Always better to seek medical advice then be sorry you didn't later is my way of thinking.

I hope your feeling great again soon!

Sorry to hear you're not feeling your best. I am just recently banded and I get Migraines on the regular. I've been on daily meds to help control them and for the most part they do, now that I'm banded I hope that I can continue taking the meds-just started them up again today with the ok of my doc-but the point is maybe you need to be evaluated for a maintaince Migraine med that will be compatible with the band. In the meantime I was told to take some liquid Tylenol if I feel a headache coming on.

I am also headache prone. I measure my headaches on the 1-10 scale. when the headaches are below 7 I use tramadol 50 mg. its a non narcotic pain reliever, and a ice pack to the neck. if the headache reaches a 7 and higher I have to take maxalt. with that I add hydrocodone 5mg. I also use a ice pack to the neck. a cup of coffee for the caffeine helps to. most headaches are stress related. of course checking with your primary care doctor is a must. I have had a mri to make sure nothing is going on up there, my husband said he could have saved us a buck for that one. ha. funny guy. but I feel for you. besides feeling nausea a headache is my worst nightmare. so if I am being drastic I apologize. wishing you well. please talk to your doctor, there are many things you can do.

I'd call your doctor now -- don't wait for March 3rd if you're having troubles of any kind. Migraines are awful. This may be off base but I'll just put it out there -- some people really react to artificial sweeteners. Sucralose, specifically, can trigger migraines for some. Best wishes to you!

Good call Bandista! That is definitely true, and Equal does it to me, too much of it and I have a headache!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
