It's been 10 days since my surgery. I have lost a total of 12.2 lbs. seems fast to me. I'm not complaining but it makes me worry that it's too fast... I don't know. I know it's easier in the beginning to lose because "heavier people lose quicker" but wow that's quick! I have it set in my head for some reason that I won't believe it's working until I lose 25 lbs... Because that would be a weight that I haven't seen for 2 years. 12.8 lbs until that small goal is reached. Hoping I make that by the end of the month! This is so wild though... I'm melting

I know what ya mean, I lost the first 20# so fast then it slowed down . I am at the 6 week mark right now and have lost 27# it is slow but at least it is still coming off! I haven't been this small for at least 10 years and it feels great! I was afraid at first when it was dropping off so fast that it couldn't be healthy, so kind of glad it slowed down but sure wish it didn't slow down to a snails pace! I had my first fill and it seems I can eat more now than I did before I had it, so now I'm ready for fill #2! Just hang in there girl, it will come off and we are gonna be feelin SO FINE! LOL

Enjoy it Wendy..it won't last. Just know that if you think in terms of one pound at a time, one day at a time, you will see those big numbers eventually. The only time I lost alot was the pre-op diet. I dropped 17 lbs. in those two weeks. After that, it came off slow and steady and here I am, almost 13 months post op and down a staggering 109 lbs. You are a year behind me and there's no reason you can't be just as successful a year from now.

Take it one day at a time....the weight does seem to "fly off" at times especially in the beginning.....i'm 75 lbs down and 4 1/2 months post op and it seems bizarre to me....but im eating healthier than ever and meeting all of my requirements and that is what my body wants to do and my doctor is okay with it all...so I'm enjoying the ride and feeling proud of the hard work and the accomplishments so far.

Congrats on your loss...and enjoy it! ;)

Don't worry it'll slow down. I lost a lot the first week then lost about 10 lbs a month for the first 7 months. Then it really slowed down. You're on liquids only and it tends to fall off pretty easy. Follow the doctors orders. Listen to your band telling you you don't need anymore food. If you do your part the band work. I love mine.

fruit Loop, I thought the same thing about my first fill. Its almost as if I lost some of the restriction I felt when it was first put in. Like, I can definitely eat faster. Not sure if the doc will give me a second one because I'm losing so well due to diet and exercise.

The fastest weight loss for a lot of patients, from what I've seen over the years, has been on the pre-op diet and in the weeks post op. Then it stabilises. It's a lot of weight to lose, I agree, but it will not stay at that rate, don't worry. =

a loss is a loss.....

and if you lose inches (clothes getting big, need to smaller), that is a true and actual

way to tell that you have lost weight, no matter what the scale says or does not say......

I sure am!!! I noticed my scrub pants and top for work that were tight on me prior to surgery were comfortably fitting last night :)

U felt restricted in the beginning outta surgery because of the internal swelling. Now once it subsides, the band opens up & hunger returns.

This will continue until u've been filled to the proper fill level.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
