I had my surgery on March 4th. I've lost 18 lbs just 10 days out. I'm feeling pretty good but cannot wait till my follow up on the 17th so the doctor can put me on puréed foods. Good luck to all you March sleevers!

Surgery done. Yeahhhh. Today is my first day back at home. The pain from the gas is terrible. I've been up walking constantly but it's just stuck moving around my stomach. This has pain is the absolute worst. I pray it goes away really soon. I don't know how much more I can take.

Walking helps a lot. I know it gets really uncomfortable but I preferred that pain over the gas. Also try a heating pad on your shoulder area it might help a little. Hope you feel better soon JurneeOfOne

I had my surgery March 11th, and left the hospital yesterday, March 13th. For me the couple of hours in recovery were hell, but I just kept telling my muddled brain that it will continue getting better, minute by minute, and it did. After 3 or 4 hours I felt pretty decent and it has continued to improve. I haven't need too much pain medication, and nothing for nausea, and I would say the worst thing is the discomfort from the staples, which is basically kept in check by some tylenol.

If, like me, you haven't had surgery before you should know that you will quickly get used to having IVs and injections and people asking if you've been farting or not :) There will be low points but they all pass. In my experience the nurses were great, and with some visits from a friend, and a laptop loaded with a bunch of tv shows and movies I hadn't seen it all went about as well as can be expected.

I just want to encourage those that have yet to have the operation that there is a strong possibility for a completely smooth recovery and don't be too frightened of what bad things may happen, because you can't control it anyways. If you were strong enough to make the decision to go through with it you will be strong enough to handle whatever comes your way. Try to think of how much you have to gain in your life by losing.

Good luck.

Gas X strips worked well for me and having someone beat on my back.

That's awesome SkinnyMinnyIwillBe!! I can't handle shakes at the moment so I've been drinking those Isopure drinks and Soups mostly. There are times where I have the occasional scrambled egg, but I make sure I chew till it's a liquid consistency before I swallow.

I hear ya. I didn't fart until a couple of days after surgery and it made me feel 100% better. I hope the gas starts moving south for you soon.

Glad to hear you're doing well! And I agree about people who haven't had surgery yet doing well. This was my very first surgery and I've been having a textbook recovery.

How, is everyone this Saturday morning. Still very sore & swollen here, still on Clear Liquids but not really hungry for anything. Still taking nausea meds religiously, hopefully nausea will not become a concern. First post-op appt is Monday. I don't think I could have survived this without you guys & my wonderful Hubby.

I'm post op day #2. sleeping in my own bed felt great. Lots of pain. Trying not to take narcotics because of worsening nausea. Cajun, does it still hurt to swallow (when liquid hits belly)? This makes getting fluids in so much harder! Gas finally moving and that feels good. A few moments of regret here and there but just trying to keep eyein prize!

I never experienced any pain with sipping clear Fluid so far. I have to keep reminding myself no more than 4-6 oz/hour, I could clearly drink more, but I'm adhering to Doctors rules without deviation. I had cup of herbal tea last two mornings, it felt so good to have. I started walking around my street several times a day. Started off small, slightly increasing length each day. Today I felt really good during my two walks.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
