Stress = Stall

Recommended Posts

I am on a 3 week stall at 3 months out. Does stress play a role on our weight loss? I have been under a huge amount of stress since before Christmas. I'm still not over eating or anything and yes I could eat cleaner but my calorie intake is still very low.

Stress affects our bodies in a million different ways, so yes, I'm sure it could affect weight loss. Focus on Protein and you'll start losing again, although I'm sure this is getting a little agonizing! Good luck!

I hit a 2+ week stall at almost 3 months. The scale is starting to move again, but very little and very slowly. I was under a great amount of stress with some very serious family issues, including the death of my father. I've wondered if stress had anything to do with it, I, too, could have eaten cleaner, but it still wasn't bad and I wasn't going over my calorie goal. I don't know the answer, but I think stress could be a factor.

YES… Stress can stall weight loss. I have dealt with this challenge prior to getting sleeved. I was able to loose 65 lbs with low carb high Protein diet and hit a terrible stall when I was very stressed. The stressors affected my life for over 6 months and I did not loose another pound. I gained about 10 lbs over that 6 months and "justified" this as my body balancing out despite the diet. I went off the diet and gradually gained another 10 lbs. Then my PCP changed my thyroid medication and I gained all the weight plus another 10 lbs (getting to 265 lbs) Thats when I decided it was time for bariatric surgery.

Now when I get stressed and see the scales stall…. I try to be calm, take a deep breath and tell myself that I am in control of the choices I make so, think, pray and choose what will be best for me.

Have you begun to lose again or are you still losing slow?

So frustrating when you know you're not eating too much. I need to get back to the gym and get the scale moving. I want to be at goal by 6 months. Good luck!

Only a few ounces here and there. I'm up about 1/2 pound today. Meh!

I came on here to post the same question!!! I am 4 months post-op and have been stalled for over 2 weeks. At the very same time I started work again on my PhD classes - first time back after taking a semester off for surgery. That coupled with my career, 4 kids/hubby, home, life, etc. has been pretty stressful. I'm wondering if the stall and the stress are related.

And with that, what do we do? I mean, I'm not willing to stop pursuing my PhD, and I obviously can't eliminate my career or family, so how do we find a way to manage it all in a healthy way. I mean, my eating is good. I have not been stress eating.

I've never really been one for yoga or meditation or anything, but I'm thinking maybe that might help?

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
