Hey friends!!! It's me. The nausea patch behind the ear makes everything blurry. Lol I really had it rough when I woke up. I can honestly say it was the worst pain I've ever felt. They started giving me pain meds every 5 minutes to get my pain under control. I still have gas pain, but at least the abdominal pain is taken care of. In about an hr and a half I have what's called a blue ice test. I'm given ice that is dyed blue. I eat it slowly as tolerated and they ensure no blue is in my drain tube. I ain't gonna lie, this has been really rough. Really painful. I always thought I'd tolerated pain well until today. I guess this one would've been ok had they not did the pain meds the way they did. I can barely hold my head up and stuff so I'm gonna get off of here. Thank you all for such awesome support. April

Hang in there April!

April

I can relate April. Surgery at 5 yesterday. Last night was bad. I can't take narcotics cause I get very sick. It's 11:30 pm here now and I'm finally starting to feel human. I was nauseas till 6pm tonight. They get me up every 2 hrs to walk. Last night I was thinking What the hell did I get myself into? But it's better now.

The patch dilated my friends eyes who had the surgery Fri. I'm ok w/it.

They kept me an extra day (today) due to the rough time I was having.

I'm on my iPad and isn't as easy to type as my laptop. I'm glad to be on the other side now.

Super Fab hang in there it gets better as they tell me.

Insurance Denial! Well, kind of. They need a letter surgical clearance letter from my PCP. Then they need something stating that I was under dr. supervision for 3 month diet. My surgeon provided that but it must not be worded just right. How silly. So, pray my friends that this gets turned around fast. :( At this point, I don't think I'll be having surgery on Monday.

Home from the hospital today 48 hrs after surgery. I'm doing pretty good. Gas is starting to pass a little. On a clear liquid diet with Jello till next Tues when the post op class is held an we eat real food. Taking Tylenol for the pain.

This is not easy but it's not horrible either since the nausea passed last night. I got home today after dropping a Rx for antacid off at Sams. It was good to be home. I took a 2 hr nap. Get tired easily. There was a good suggestion in another post about Pedialyte at day 8 of her liquid diet that gave her energy.

I'm walking and drinking Water. Dr told me with in 1 month I'll be feeling great. I'm just taking it day for day. If I'm tired I'll take a nap.

How is everyone else doing?

I'm one week post-op tomorrow. The difference in how I felt even four days ago to now is incredible. I'm walking 1.5-2 miles a day and my blood sugars are better than ever before. I'm down 14 pounds. I'm just better all around. In a few days you'll be feeling great!

Glad to hear you are home. To me it made a huge difference. I felt so out of it in the hospital. It was a mix of meds, exhaustion and a strange environment. I was initially nervous to go but it was definitely the best move. I hope being home does the same for you Shersun.

Also, I keep reminding people to think of their want tos. That has been such a great tool for me. I appreciate you sharing that with us. So, keep walking and reviewing your want tos! It will keep getting better. :)

The first day, when I woke up from surgery I was literally in agonizing pain. I honestly thought something was wrong and I was truly dying a painful death. It took about an hr, but they finally got my pain controlled. After that initial dose of pain meds (dilaudid) that actually worked, I was up walking. Feeling horrible but walking. I was proud Bc all I'd had other than right after surgery was Tylenol. On day 2 I woke up dry heaving and it felt like I'd been ripped into pieces. I have on the ear patch thing, they were giving me both zofran and phenergan to no avail at first. But through all that I didn't ask for pain meds Bc I didn't think I needed them. Well, last night I was doing great and then bam!!!! I felt like I was being stabbed repeatedly in the ribs and it took my breathe away. I had to be given 4mg of morphine to take the edge off. I was told it was common for gas to collect there n hurt like that. Omg it was scary. Now it's morning and my release date (if I get the all clear) is today. Of course I wake up too nauseous to function. This has been a very difficult procedure. Very painful and even I had a moment wondering if I'd made the correct decision. I know I did. But these few days have been the most painful days in my life. I just hope ppl realize that they never know. U could feel little to no pain or you could be crying in agony. Do not go in this blindsided.

Even after everything I've been through I'd still have this surgery. A few days of pain is worth having a lifetime of healthy.

Wow, sorry you're having such a hard time. Hopefully all of this will be a distant memory a week from now. I really appreciate everyone giving updates and not sugar-coating anything. And it always is reassuring to read that despite it all you are still glad you did it. Sending speedy recovery vibes your way.

Thank you JenCovi for the encouragement. It's only 3 days past surgery and today is a little better. I can't wait until next week feeling better and I can eat a little solid type food which will be Tues at post op class.

Wow your walking 2 miles at one time or combined? Still great. I started walking 5 min on my gazelle but only using the leg portion.

Thank you for reminding me about "Want To". Hard to remember when don't feel great yet.

When did you have a BM? That is what I'm concerned about. I'm on a clear liquid diet until Tues.

Thanks, I feel better every day and everyone has a different experience. Mine wasn't the most pleasant, but it was worth it. I know I'm gonna have a new life with this sleeve and am eager to start it.

Hey Shersun,

I am doing two miles in one walk. Takes a little over a half hour. I am in Orange County, CA and we have nice weather so I go out on the walking trails around my parent's house. Before surgery I was very active and I have a 16 month old daughter so I was almost always on my feet. I know that helps with my recovery.

My first BM came six days after surgery. I was taking two colace every day too. But now it seems I'm back to regular. Yay! Lol.

I'm glad your doing a little better. One day at a time and next week at this time it will be a lot better.

I'm tired which I guess normal 3 days out. Today is better than yesterday. Gas is a little better. Want to have a BM so I know I'm not constipated. Sounds like a silly think to be worried about.

How did you sleep last night? I got woke up by an Amber alert on my cell phone at 3:40 a.m. All in all slept ok.

2 miles is great. Having a 16 mo old would keep anybody busy. I live in the NW Phoenix area and the weather today is lovely but windy. I just don't feel up to walking outside yet. I'm tired. This too shall pass. I'm going to take a stool softener tonight w/hope it will help.

I appreciate the encouragement.

Omg! It sucks monkey balls to be a side sleeper. That is now the only time I need pain medicine. Of course my insurance won't cover liquid lortab so I'm screwed Bc I can afford to pay over $80 for a bottle of it. But then found out my sister had some so I'm gonna sleep well tonight.

Shersun, Jen, glitter, Leigh Anne, CC and SJ (and others, you know who you are) I just wanted to thank you guys for keeping me in your thoughts and sending positive energy my way. Y'all's encouragement and support mean the world to me.

I can't wait to track all of our progress together n rock this sleeve!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
