Yeah. I was approved yesterday. My date is March 24th.

I got approved yesterday. Surgery is March 24th!!!

Insurance Denial! Well, kind of. They need a letter surgical clearance letter from my PCP. Then they need something stating that I was under dr. supervision for 3 month diet. My surgeon provided that but it must not be worded just right. How silly. So, pray my friends that this gets turned around fast. At this point, I don't think I'll be having surgery on Monday.

Jencovi, we have the same date as long as insurance approves me this week. I can't stand it. I want to know now!

Just got a note from my surgeon that EGD biopsy results are okay. Have gastritis (irritation of stomach) but no ulcers and not h. pylori. Woo Hoo!. So, insurance has paperwork for approval. I'm still praying to have surgery on February 24th or March 3rd. P.S. I love liquid diets, said no one ever!

We an do it Jencovi. I started today. I'm not hungry because I've had lots of Protein. We will support each other. We got this.

Had EGD yesterday. Dr. was pleased. I have a small hiatal hernia that he will fix during surgery. Took some biopsy's. He said to start my liquid pre-op diet today. Now I just wait on insurance. Still shooting for February 24th or March 3rd. The waiting is killing me smalls!!!

Just had a follow-up with surgeon. He is submitting to insurance this week. Scheduled my EGD for Monday. So now I just pray that insurance approves quickly and the EGD doesn't have any bad results that will slow me down. I'm still hoping for surgery the last week of February. Dr. said to start liquid diet next week after EGD.

How long did approval take? I have Cigna too and will submit next week.

I feel you PurpleDiosa. I finally had my psych eval yesterday. I was actually nervous about it for some reason. She said she was sending the report to my surgeon and I'm good to go. A letter from my PCP has been requested for insurance purposes. Now I go next Wednesday to see the surgeon again. We will schedule the EDG and submit to insurance. I have been praying that insurance will be speedy in approving me. I want this now!

How exciting!! I got my surgery date today! I'm gonna be going in on 2/7/14!!!!!!! I'm using Dr. Rao in Jax Florida

What's everyone's experience with insurance and submitting to them? How long did it take to get a response/approval? I have Cigna insurance. Thanks, Becky

ReMom13, The 2 week pre-op liquid diet is to shrink the liver (because a fat person has a fatty liver). Shrinking the liver will make surgery easier because it won't be in the way as much. The 3,6, etc month diet period is a requirement by most insurance companies.

I can't hardly stand it anymore. I just realized that I see my surgeon again in just 2 weeks. My psych appointment is the 28th. At my appointment on Feb 5th, we will schedule the endoscopy and submit to insurance. I'm praying insurance comes back quickly with a yes. Good luck to everyone having surgery soon.
