My Lunch: A Pictorial Attempt To Show You Life Will Be Normal

  • Popular Post

If you consider eating Indian food normal that is :)

So if you're worrying you won't be able to eat or enjoy your food or be normal? Here's what I made for lunch today. Brown rice for the kids, ground beef curry, cucumber/tomato/Greek yogurt salad, palak paneer (spinach. with a homemade cheese). Apart from the rice, all good for us sleevers to eat.

I sometimes see people thinking they won't enjoy food, or that they can only have baked chicken and steamed vegetables. SO not true. I make Indian, Thai, Ethiopian, Greek etc all the time.

What is true however, is that my two kids (23 and 13) and my husband and I all ate--and we finished about a fourth of the food you see here :)

Feel free to post pics of what you're enjoying today that is sleeve friendly.

Hi Misty did u get through it all. Can't tell from the photo how big the ham hock is ?

Yes I did. It was about 45 grams. I stay around 45 to 60 grams for meat. It was probably 1/3 cup of cauliflower.

I think the eye is tricking you bc I think this is a small saucer plate, when I take pics if my food in my tiny plate I am shocked at how big it looks lol!

My new lunch fav, and sometimes breakfast too! The dietician at our surgeon's office showed us this as an appetizer option this summer at our last support group meeting so I made it to a meal serving, roughly 200 calories for both pieces!

2 Wasa crackers

4 TBSP fresh ricotta

Drizzle of Olive Oil

Drizzle of balsamic(I left this off for the pic bc mines a spray bottle and doesn't looks so pretty in pics lol)

Fresh basil

Salt & pepper

I'd love this recipe, would you mind sharing? Looks divine!

Thank you. Lately... my haunting thought is... "well you will never be able to enjoy food for the rest of your life."

We will enjoy wat we luv LATER after we get the weight off first! Just no where near amount we had been! But these pics above look great!

Thank you everyone for taking the time to show us your yummy meals. I hope when I am post op and allowed to eat food, I can duplicate some of your creations. Blessings, E.

That looks delicious! What is it?

I had chicken korma that I made in a crockpot and yellow squash "noodles" but I forgot to take a pic. Oopsie.

Do you have the what-cha-ma-call-it gizmo that takes veggies and makes a spiral noodles?

You WILL enjoy food! I am almost 10 months out and I enjoy most foods except bread, rice or pasta(surgeon has us wait 1 year) I just eat smaller portions. I do use a veggie spiralizer, mines a countertop crank one(kinda like an apple peeler corer! We absolutely LOVE it! We have successfully subbed cauliflower rice for regular rice and the kids don't even notice :) sure I've had a cup cake or gone for ice cream, it's a lifestyle change! I run a lot now and feel like I deserve a treat now and then, I'd cheat with bread rice or pasta but I know once I start I won't be able to stop and I'm not done losing yet! Hang in there folks you WILL feel normal again! I feel exactly as I did preop just can't eat but half what I used to! <3 my sleeve!
