  1. I have posted a version of this before but since i have new recipes to share, thought I'd start over. At first I drank my protein shakes like a good girl. Then I struggled through them. Then they made me sick. By the time I was post op, I was so sick of them, I’d rather have starved. Three things saved me. 1. If you find yourself getting nauseated with them, chances are quite good that you are lactose intolerant, especially after the surgery. I take lactaid pills with my first sip and it really helps with nausea, diarrhea, gas, gurgling, cramping hell. 2. I found two shakes I liked. Yours will be different but for me it was Chike Coffee protein, Syntrax mint chocolate chip, and I can also tolerate Syntrax Double Stuffed cookie. It helps to make only 4 oz, with 1 scoop of powder, half a cup of liquid, and the rest ice to make a 6 oz cup to slurp on, so keep the quantities small. 3. HIgh protein soups. These saved me. You can’t do these unless you are on full liquids, but once you’re on them, and if you are sick of sweet protein shakes, please do try these. I am posting links to my blog where I have posted them. Full disclosure, I do not make money off this blog, so this is not for self-promotion. I like creating different recipes and sharing so I hope they help someone. Once you are through your liquids stage, also search for soft foods, or look up the ground chicken and ground beef recipes, and you may find something you like that is sleeve friendly. I've posted links to a few here to get you started. Here’s the list of foods: Full Liquids Stage 1. Egg drop soup ( I haven’t posted a proper recipe because it’s so simple. Boil chicken broth, stir in two beaten eggs when it boils, stir with a pair of chopsticks. Take it off the flame immediately, cover, and let it sit for 5 minutes to let the egg cook. Add salt, pepper, and my fav, some sesame oil for a fresh flavor). Hot & sour soup Shrimp “bisque” Lobster bisque Tortilla soup Chicken and mushroom soup Protein pudding Chocolate Mousse Soft Foods Stage Cheese Souffle Pumpkin Cheesecake Vanilla pudding Pumpkin Caramel Bake Banana Egg Protein Pancake Home-made refried beans 5-minute Hummus Do you have others to add to this list?
  2. Hi guys, wanted to share 32 High protein full liquids/soft food recipes with you from my blog: https://twosleevers.com/facet-recipe/?fwp_recipes=full-liquids-soft-foods&fwp_dietary_consider=high-protein I hope you find these helpful!
  3. I had vsg 4 years ago and lost 82 lbs; my husband had surgery the same day and lost 100 lbs. I started a blog to keep up with what I was feeling and eating, and that has now migrated to a full-blown food blog. But I wanted to share this yummy lobster bisque recipe that we used a lot during Post-Op/Full Liquids stage. https://www.twosleevers.com/recipes/post-op-full-liquids-yummy-lobster-bisque-14-gms-protein/

    Simple Creamy Chicken Salad

Even four years after surgery I still have trouble with chicken sometimes--but I figured out how to make chicken salad right after surgery that we could tolerate and enjoy during the soft foods stage. It's stupid simple but very creamy and delicious, and of course, high protein, high fat, and low carb. I felt stupid when I poasted it 4 years ago but it's actually very popular amongst my blog readers and on pinterest, so I figured I'd share it here. . You’ll wonder if this will be bland and tasteless with just few ingredients, but I promise you, it won’t. Super flavorful and extremely easy. Creamy Chicken Salad recipe
  5. Thank you! I started the blog as a way to track my weight loss after the sleeve, but then I ended up showing people how easy it was to eat well while eating low carb. So I used to post a lot of recipes here. Thought I'd come back and see how things were going Thanks for sharing the blog.

32 high protein full liquids soft food recipes

that is definitely one of my all time favorite recipes
  8. AND don't even need to beg! win win!
  9. My surgeon didn't discriminate between thin purée and full liquids so i'm not really sure how to answer. We used it during the full liquids stage.
  10. I'm so glad! I have tons of recipes on the blog, I hope you find others you like.
  11. Modified from Bee Yinn Low's Easy Chinese recipes. Ingredients 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth 1 Tbsp soy sauce 1 Tbsp Chinese black vinegar 1.5 Tbsp Chinese Rice Vinegar 1/4 tsp salt 2 Tbsp corn starch 3 Tbsp Water 1/2 Tbs Chili Oil 4 Large eggs, beaten lightly Method 1. Mix and heat broth, sauces and vinegars. 2. In a small bowl, mix the corn starch and vinegars 3. When broth is boiling, slowly incorporate the cornstarch mix. Keep stirring and let it boil for a while to thicken the broth 4. Slowly pour in the eggs. Mix three times around with chopsticks. Turn off the flame, cover the pot and let the eggs cook slowly in the broth. Note: to increase the Protein content, I really think you could put in some extra-silken soft tofu in there. It's a lot more "liquid" than yogurt, or Jello, and should go down easy. If you want, put about 2-3 oz of soft tofu and blend it in before adding the eggs. Makes 5-6 cups.
  12. I love this link! Was wondering what weighs 25 lbs and 34-36 lbs. apparently 25 lbs is a two -year old and 36 is a mid-size microwave oven what have you lost?? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3421351
  13. I take very good care of my teeth. Brush, floss, never miss a demtist's appt. Last few weeks I've noticed my teeth are turning yellow! Gross! And they feel weirdly coated even right after I've diligently used my electric toothbrush all over them. What the hay?? Am I like a dog that needs crunchy fruits and veg to keep my smile sparkling? Is it because I can't eat them now that my teeth feel gritty? Seems unlikely because um...I'm human and I use fricking toothpaste but I have no idea why this is happening and it's worrying me. Any thoughts or similar experiences to share?
  14. If you consider eating Indian food normal that is So if you're worrying you won't be able to eat or enjoy your food or be normal? Here's what I made for lunch today. Brown rice for the kids, ground beef curry, cucumber/tomato/Greek yogurt salad, palak paneer (spinach. with a homemade cheese). Apart from the rice, all good for us sleevers to eat. I sometimes see people thinking they won't enjoy food, or that they can only have baked chicken and steamed vegetables. SO not true. I make Indian, Thai, Ethiopian, Greek etc all the time. What is true however, is that my two kids (23 and 13) and my husband and I all ate--and we finished about a fourth of the food you see here Feel free to post pics of what you're enjoying today that is sleeve friendly.
  15. Mine is only 2 days away! Tuesday at noon. I'm scared and excited at the same time. I'm glad I read your post because now I will be more vigilant about the liquids.
  16. It was a bratwurst and yes I can now eat an entire sausage at a sitting. Used to be, I'd struggle to eat a fourth of one. No more. Sleeve capacity definitely expands over time, and I now eat as much as my skinny kids.
  17. My goal weight chose me a little. I've always had to work hard to lose and around 155 I was stalled for months despite eating under 800 calories and less than 45 gms of carbs. And I didn't mind how I looked, still had curves, so I decided I was happy at 152. I sway between 147-153 most times. I got to maintenance by increasing calories by 100 each week. Over time you can indeed eat more. I have to force myself to not eat whenever I want to. And I can def put on weight at 1400 calories. So I am still measuring, weighing and tracking daily, still eating under 1200 calories, still can't go over 75 gms of carbs without gaining weight.
  18. What are you having for dinner? http://twosleevers.com/2014/12/pan-grilled-bratwurst-and-steamed-cabbage/

    It's been a while....

....been a long time since I've posted but was thinking of how much several of you on this forum helped me while I was both considering the sleeve, as well as when I was newly sleeved. I hit goal about 10-11 months after surgery and have been maintaining that plus a 4-5 lb drop since then. I started at 230 lbs at 5'5 and decided I was at goal at 152. Most days, I veer between 147-151 now. I'm somewhere between a size 4-6 in pants and an 8-10 in tops (wide shoulders!) I have a tummy tuck (skin only, no muscle repair) coming up Dec 16th and I couldn't be happier about all of it. My husband has also lost almost 100 lbs since we started and is healthy and happy. Anyway just wanted to share and mainly, to thank all of you who were there for me on this forum. I needed the support, advice, and guidance I found here. Meant a lot to me. ((Hugs))

Please help me get back on track....

Hi there! It's been a while since we last "spoke" but I just saw your post and thought I'd chime in. For me I still weight myself every morning, I weigh and measure my food, I log everything and I keep carbs under 70 gms and calories under 1200. And even with that there will be days I'm up a lb. I think the key to getting back on track for me is to quit carbs for a week and go back down to the 42 gms I eat during weight loss. Hard as heck!! But it's the ONLY thing that brings my hunger under control. First few days of that, I make veggie and meat Soup and if I get hungry--I eat. But only meat and veggies. Three-four days of that and the hunger comes back in control. During that time I also drink liquids like a mad woman. And I prepare to gut through 3-4 days of feeling like crap. And then I'm usually back to normal. Until the next time I over-carb. And then the cycle is repeated.
  22. I'm scheduled for a mini tuck with no muscle repair only skin removal on the 16th of this month. My doc said I didn't need muscle repair. Have you asked yours if she/he thinks you need it? If yes then agree it may be worth waiting to afford it. But you might not need? Also agree that for most people the diff between what insurance covers and extra for muscle repair is small so maybe you could try that route.
  23. Looks very tasty! How did you make the lamb?
  24. Taco meat topped with refried beans and lots of cheese, green beans with onions and bacon. Yum!
