My Lunch: A Pictorial Attempt To Show You Life Will Be Normal

 • Popular Post

If you consider eating Indian food normal that is :)

So if you're worrying you won't be able to eat or enjoy your food or be normal? Here's what I made for lunch today. Brown rice for the kids, ground beef curry, cucumber/tomato/Greek yogurt salad, palak paneer (spinach. with a homemade cheese). Apart from the rice, all good for us sleevers to eat.

I sometimes see people thinking they won't enjoy food, or that they can only have baked chicken and steamed vegetables. SO not true. I make Indian, Thai, Ethiopian, Greek etc all the time.

What is true however, is that my two kids (23 and 13) and my husband and I all ate--and we finished about a fourth of the food you see here :)

Feel free to post pics of what you're enjoying today that is sleeve friendly.

May not look very appetizing but it was quite delicious and satisfying. Barely able to finish it all.

Crockpot chicken curry with steamed zucchini. Yum!

Had 5 guys-bacon cheeseburger and cajun fries.

I am one who didn't have this surgery to give up my fav's.

So, I had the patty, cheese, bacon, grilled onions and like 6 fries w/ vinegar.

I threw out the bun minus 1small nibble.

I did not finish the whole patty. At 2 bites left I gave up bc afraid to over eat.

And yes, I did put it in mfp.

LOL.....even without the bun that burger is 764 calories. Never mind those nasty French fries.

They really are good burgers...

Lets be honest here.

I was really there for the cajun fries.

The burgers are good, but I'm a recovering fry gal.

To eat only 6, and only after my Protein was a major victory for me.

Yes, 800 cal is high but I'm ok w/ that.

Their fries must have crack in them. There is NO other explanation for what they are so good. I used to get them when I flew out of La guardia but only if there was someone with whom to share both the fries and the kids burger.

I do look forward to being able to do that once in a while as a treat. Right now, eating a burger patty doesn't appeal, and although I have a very accommodating sleeve, I suffer with potatoes so it's keeping me out of trouble.

For now.

Okay good example of what NOT to eat. I didn't have time to get breakfast at the airport. Flying upgraded today, and this is what Delta gives you for breakfast. That muffin top? Aptly named. 31 gms of carbs. Practically my whole day's carb allowance! I will eat the top of the unstirred yogurt and get 8 gms of protein, and potentially a little fruit.

Wow! I would prolly do the same as you...NOW...before I would have eaten it all -except the muffin top - not crazy about store bought sweets

In contrast my very delicious and sleeve friendly dinner. Jumbo sea scallops and grilled asparagus with edamame before. I was able to eat 1.5 scallops and 2 spears of asparagus. So good!

Breakfast in India (but western breakfast): scrambled eggs, toast, hash brown, sautéed mushrooms, roasted tomato. Seem big? Here is a before/after. I'm quite full. Really enjoyed the mushrooms.

This was my dinner last night. Stuffed steak, zucchini fries and roasted tomato.

How much of that were you able to eat?
