Usually between 50-80 grams a day...what'd your NUT tell you?

Post-op I had a minimum of 60 grams, but never exceeded 80. Now, 7.5 months out, I shoot for a minimum of 50, which my doctor said is fine for me at this point.

It really depends. Everyone is different and has different requirements.

The standard formula for minimum required Protein intake is your weight x .3. So yours would be 177x.3=53g of Protein. That number will change as your weight changes.

However, that is the minimum. It's highly likely your nutritionist will suggest more. Talk to them and let them help you.

I agree with Missy... ask your doctor or nutritionist what is right for you. Mine said no less than 60 daily and that is what I still do.

What happens to you if you do not fulfill the required Protein requirement?

Your hair, skin, nails, metabolism, all depend on Protein. Hair growth and bad nails would be common but of bigger concern would be malnutrition or 'wasting' if your protein intake was way low (think of cancer patients that are sick and can't or won't eat...that gaunt appearance). Protein is a biggie. Minor deficiencies would likely slow your weight loss as well, before the really bad stuff starts happening.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
