My daughter and I are going to go see it on Thursday. I figure since I can't really eat anyway, might as well go to the movies!

Went today. Loved it. Ending. Well.

I just asked my daughter if she'd heard of the Veronica Roth books and she got pretty excited saying yes LOL! Guess I'll have to borrow her books and read them myself!

I thought catching fire was rather well done. We loved it. We read the books together so it was fun to see the movies together.

The other set we're reading as a family are Veronica Roth's insurgent, divergent and allegiant and those will also be made into movies shortly.

There are so few books/movies with strong female leads in realistic sci fi that when they come along, mew tend to devour them. (Firefly anyone?)

Loved Firefly and Serenity!! Can watch them both on Netflix, or at least my daughter and I did.

What is firefly? Only the best tv series ever that Fox fucked up. It's about these space travelers who are very much human and travel through various planets making deliveries, running errands and getting paid. The character development is nice, there's a mystery running through the episodes, and of course, a punitive republic against whom they must protest. It is witty, clever and IMHO, Joss Wheedon's best work to date. I think Amazon has it for you to stream? it was followed by a movie, Serenity, also very good.

Allegiant et al are another set of teenagers in a dystopian world where people are sorted into five groups, Abnegation, erudite, dauntless, amity, and candor based on their personalities, and are trained that way. Or are they? :) despite the inevitable comparison to hunger games, we thought the books stood well in their own stead.

Laura, your kids might like them, and since the last one was just released they could read all three in a row.

Well, we've both read the books. Did it keep true to the story? Or did they take cinematic freedoms with it?

Went today. Loved it. Ending. Well.

I've been driving all day. And look what I missed!

Erm, nothing. DOUBLE nothing if you count that Miracle Whip nonsense.

I loved the Hunger Games books but haven't had any desire to see the movies. But I find it ironic that all these WLS people are talking about the Hunger Games. Isn't that why we got the surgery, to win the Hunger Games? ;)

since the subject of books came up, has anyone read the book thief? I will be picking that up or maybe the divergent series for my time off for my surgery.

Interestingly what I appreciate about that series is the physicality of the actors. I know you were kidding but the whole time I watched that movie, I ogled her body to see what a fit size 8 looks like :)

My daughter is sitting here (because I asked her about those other books that GG mentioned) raving about a book called The Fault In Our Stars by John Green.

I agree that teen fiction is a million times better than what was available when I was a kid. I pretty much didn't bother with reading books that I was a target audience for, instead I read Stephen King and Dean Koontz. Now I'm just as quick to read one of my daughter's books as I am one of my own!

Teen fiction is far better than the shitted we had when I was a young doe. The Divergent series is great. If you've not already, make sure you read Life As We Knew It. My favorite book in a long time.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
