Hi All:

FYI - my potassium levels were Very Very low and they gave to me via IV and that was probably the worst part thus far of this entire experience! OMG the burning pain of the liquid moving through my veins was indescribable, worst than labor pains or two c-sections. The nurse said everyone reacts differently...

Anyone else experienced this recently or in the past?

Hi all...I'm 5 days post op and am just finally beginning to feel somewhat human again. My last dosage of pain meds was at 10 PM last night, and although I am not up to 64 oz of liquid, I am over half way there.

I should be able to do some updating on the pounds lost thread tomorrow...it's never too late to join if you want to...we'd love to see you there!

Best wishes to everyone being sleeved tomorrow...since I am doing this lying down on my iPad I can't send the list of people going tomorrow, but you are all in my prayers.

Good evening, all! Well... My sleeve surgery is tomorrow morning and I am not feeling great. My broth I ate for lunch today did not sit well with my stomach tonight... And I've gotten sick twice now and didn't eat dinner because of feeling so sick. Not good for the night before surgery, I'm sure. Anyway, many prayers are needed for me tomorrow!! Good luck to all of those fellow 17th sleevers! I'll post on here when I can! :)

Hi everyone! Thanks for the well wishes. Surgery was yesterday morning at 9. I was so tired before that from going to bed so late (work) and getting up so early to get to the hospital. The hospital and staff were amazing. Even though there are closer hospitals, given a choice, I will go back there! Surgery went well. He found out that I have a congenital birth defect! I have a diaphragmatic hernia (hernia/opening in my diaphragm. He said he could only do one or the other so he did the sleeve and said I would need to get the hernia fixed at some point. Due to my previous terrible recoveries I made sure they did all they could do. I took the emend when I got to the hospital, then they gave me of ran under the tongue and patch behind the ear. I still woke up a bit sick but nothing like before and it didn't last long. I have 5 incisions. One on my right side where he pulled out the stomach hurts the most. I was on dilaudid at the hospital. I was in no pain as long as I didn't move! I had some gas pain just in mid chest. I did take a gasx. Not sure if that helped or if it just went away on its own. I peed all night long, almost every hour. I was able to do it all myself but needed help reconnecting the SCD boots. I would get up, go to the bathroom, quick walk down the hall, pee again and then get back in bed. I am very fortunate in that I can drink pretty easily. I have to stop myself because too many sips causes a bit of pain in my chest but I'm even able to drink my shakes. I hated everything they gave me as it was all sugar free. I tasted all of it just to see if I could tolerate it, and I could. When I got home, I made a shake with a dose of Miralax as I want stay on top of that. I'm pretty much staying put in the recliner in my bedroom. I only take the dilaudid when I have pain while not moving. No catheter, no drain. I don't know when I will be able to add the new people to the list. If someone wants to copy and paste the most recent list into a new reply, they can also add the new folks. I hope everyone is doing well on their preops and postops!

So glad to hear your recovery has gone well. What a great idea to use the Mira-lax instead of MOM. I'm so hoping the nausea isn't to bad for me either. Please keep us updated on your progress.

What a great and informative description. So glad you are doing well and will continue to keep you in prayers. Only 6 more days and I'll be there!

So good to hear your immediate report following surgery. I have a small hernia and won't know until Thursday pre-op with surgeon if he is going to repair. I'd been dreading it with the reports of great pain from so many--- your words are inspiring and I'm going to assume I will have the same experience. Congrats on the walking and oceans of wishes for continued uneventful recovery!

Many prayers ur way my fellow sleever. U may have a virus, hopefully its just nerves tho. My hubby came home w it and is still knocked out from it. I pray its nothing like that but don't push it if it is. Keep getting some fluids until u have to stop, like somthn w ginger or pepto if allowed b4 surgery. But whatever happens ur in my prayers.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
