always hungry and eat chocolate

I just seen that you replied. I don't feel that way. I haven't over done it. I'm in grad school' date=' just finished comps. That's why I bought the bag. I was studying and craving. I'm done and over it too. I know my limits and know how long it takes to work off 100 calories let alone how hard it is to lose the weight even with wls.

I also don't dump. But again, I stress... I know my limits and have a huge bag and only allow myself one at a time. Most days I don't even touch it. I've done my personal best and using my wls tool but I'm human and don't want to live limited.

But please follow your doctor and don't try this a home lol :)

Wish I could bottle it up and give it out. I stay focused on how hard it has all been and keeps me focused. I'm most proud that I haven't drank soda. I was a soda freak needed it to survive! Lol or at least I thought I did. I haven't even thought about it. When I'm doing cardio I always look at the amount of calories burned. That keeps me FOCUSED!!!

It's important to keep realistic expectations on yourself. Are you 20 lbs from your goal? Keep truckin and stay focused. You got this!

I bought sugar free fudgsicles! Hits that spot nicely! I've decided I'm just going to keep looking for sugar free stuff or bake sugar free stuff at home. There are new ways to scratch the itch' date=' we just need to search them out. :)

I got them from Price Chopper in my area. But I saw a maple flavor ice cream no sugar added at Walmart.

I don't dump either. It's a blessing and a curse. I'm down 138lbs. Started at 301 before two week pre-op diet, 293 at surgery and currently 163lbs. I'm

Whoops! Hit send too soon.

I was going to say that I'm 9 months out from surgery. My chocolate craving kicked in at about 6 mos post op. I started keeping one regular size dove dark chocolate candy bar one the house. If I really wanted chocolate, I allowed myself a square but I had to wait until the end of a meal. Usually I was full so I'd eat one square and be satisfied - I think each square is like 20 calories. If I did that at lunch and dinner, I don't think that's so bad in terms of life long moderation. Some days, I don't have any at all. Occassionally, I have two squares. I'm lucky in that I do get really full after a meal (as we are supposed to) and I don't want to continue eating. So this is working for me. Since I only keep One Bar max in the house at a time, I figure that even if I went really crazy one day (which hasn't happened yet) I'd be aware of the amount - rather than a bag.

Oh, I was also going to add that some of the sugar free stuff is not reduced calorie and has just as many calories (if not more) than the sugared versions. Just something I consider since I don't dump. For me, the lowest calorie choice can sometimes be the sugar choice in a small quantity or in a low fat version, etc.

I was eating 700-800 calories for a long time. I never really kept count because I had a hard time getting all my Protein and Water in. I had the munches in the beginning but it was head hunger. I couldn't actually eat what I was craving (without feeling sick anyway). So I followed my drs plan and dealt with the head hunger. That eventually passed. Then, when I eventually got my appetite back, it was a physical hunger rather than the "munchies" and I could eat a more normal healthy diet of fruit, veggies, meats, fish, dairies, etc. I still really limit carbs and have never had Pasta or rice since surgery. Now, I eat between 1000 - 1500 calories a day at this point and I continue to lose. Although the weight loss has slowed down in the last three months. I do find that I'm hungry frequently but if its in between meals, I try drinking something first and that usually delays my need to eat and can get me to meal time. Every once in awhile this trick doesn't work and I end up eating between meals but its all about getting to the finish line...not the day to day ups and downs. I win more than I lose. And I'm in it for moderation in the long haul. Still hoping to lose 28 more lbs in the next 3 mos. we'll see.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
