Today I took a nibble from a chocolate chip cookie and I sipped iced tea from a straw. Whatever will become of me?

You're a rebel!!!!

I'm all about lifestyle changes and taking advantage of the tool we've been given. I truly am, so I hope no one takes this wrong. Yup I really would prefer to learn how to eat healthy but also realistically. I want to be able to eat a couple bites of pizza or birthday cake, or cheese dip...I don't want to be able to eat 6 slices of birthday cake, 1/2 a pizza, or a gallon of ice cream!

You guys are too funny! Soccermomma73 you are so 100% correct! We have to be realistic without being martyrs or going overboard. This surgery is a tool to use wisely. I am 10 months out and I have lost 82 lbs.. I'm not breaking any speed records, but when my grand kids have their birthdays, I don't sit with a long haggard look being a martyr over a piece of cake. My daughter in law knows to cut me a small piece and I have a couple of bites and I quit. Am I full or do I feel I'll from it, no. I want to live my life to the best of my ability and be happy. My diabetes is gone, my cholesterol is normal and my grand kids notice that grandma has more energy. I would like to lose 40 more, but my Dr. Says 20 more is sufficient. It may take me several months and that's ok if it does, I'm happy and living in moderation and not condemnation. There are a few on here from time to time that want to condem choices others make. In my opinion for whatever its worth, if we are too severe or strict with ourselves I think we set ourselves up for failure. I'll probably get some non complimenatary responses to this post and if I do, so be it.

But you're my hero!! This is how I want to be in a year! My family celebrates with food. 90% of them have no weight issues. I don't want to stay home and avoid the celebrations, I don't want to try to change the entire family, I don't want to sit in the corner and pout while everyone else is enjoying themselves! I want to be able to go to the fair and have a handful of popcorn. I want to be me, just a healthier me. Not feeling like I'm depriving myself or starving to death makes this easier. Thank goodness my doc is a realist and not one of the ones that says no carbs ever or no carbs til you lose 75% of your weight. He and I would have issues if he was! Sunday is my 40th birthday. I WILL have 2 or 3 bites of cake....after I eat dinner and have some Protein so I don't dump like crazy again :)

Lol, that's hysterical! The one I don't get us people that chew food and spit it out...that just seems so nasty to me!

Happy Birthday! My Dr. Has never said never on anything either, only that he thinks 40 more lbs is not necessary.:-). I started out seeing another Dr., who didn't answer questions adequately, and was concerned with numbers on the scale instead of his patients lives. It's all about moderation, feeling good, being healthy and happy.

Not only is that nasty, it's ridiculous. If they want it badly enough to put it in their mouth, then why not a bite or two swallowed and be done? Again, moderation verses deprivation. You know at some point the spitters might just pig out on what they are craving and spitting.

I screwed up today. I tried rice and green Beans. And a didn't get sick. I wish I would have. I feel like I've already failed.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
