Unjury Chix Broth? or Cheese Sauce?

Recommended Posts

Getting close to the big day!!! I'm wondering if anyone has tried the powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth or the cheese sauce??? I don't like the taste of most shakes because of the sweetness or chemical taste. Wondering how these stack up!

Thanks-

chicken Soup is my back up...I usually do it for lunch, not sweet, a little salty, not great but a good change from the sickeningly sweet shakes. Just watch the sodium, it's pretty high which is why I limit myself to 1 per day.

I am on my second bag of the cheese sauce. It is pretty good stirred into things. I make a couple ounces of mashed pot with skim milk and a scoop of the cheese Unjury, very good, I have the chicken flavor and I don't love it but don't hate it. They both are a good way to change it up from all sweet. Their website has recipes and they usually mail you some recipes with your order. The cheese they don't have in individual size, so you could order the whole one of that and a couple of the chicken flavored in the individual size and see how you like them. I just put the cheese into some mashed cauliflower and it was pretty darn good.

Great info.. I loved the Atkins Protein Shakes prior to surgery and in the first two weeks. Then all of a sudden something changed and some days I can drink them and some days I get nauseous and need Zofran. I have tried a few other Protein Drinks but they are so milky and sweet and I just don't like them they make me sick. I have been looking into the Unjury brand thinking I could try chicken broth, unflavored and the cheese. I really wish I could find a more juice based Protein Drink that was good... Any suggestions??

Unjury has a strawberry sorbet one when blended with Water or crystal lite lemonade and ice is real good and a change from the milky shakes. Or unjury unflavored to make a fruit smoothie. I use frozen strawberry or mango.

Isopure is one people recommend for a nice clear juice. I have heard the two flavors people like are Grape and Mango/Peach. You can find these at GNC.

The second brand is Syntrax nectar. I've tried a bunch of flavors from the sample pack at mybariatricpantry.com. I thought the lemonade and green apple were good and others rave about the peach nectar.< /p>

I like the Isopure zero carb mango peach and alpine punch. I bought them pre made, I do Water it down 1/2 Water, 1/2 the Isopure. Those seem to be the only ones I like. I just bought a canister of the peach mango to see how that goes. I also plan on using the canister Isopure for smoothies by adding frozen strawberries.

I recently ordered syntax nectar fuzzy navel and am waiting on it. I've read alot of good reviews about it, not much negative. i will also try this as a smoothie. I have a very difficult time w the milky, thick shakes now. So I have an extreme difficult time w chocolates and those flavored now.

I seriously LOVE the Unjury chicken. It tastes like the lipton powdered Soup, or kind of like top ramen. YUM  Not a huge fan of the strawberry sorbet. I just ordered a nectar sample pack so I'll let you know what I think.

Here's where personal preferences come in...I tried the Isopure mango peach once. It smelled to me like a bottle of formula my kid once left in a car in the summer. I still gag at the thought of drinking the clear Proteins.

Ugh, I now hate the Unjury chicken broth. I was hoping it would be the magic to keep me from having to drink these nasty sweet shakes. But I can't tolerate it. I'm going to mix some in Soup and see what happens.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
