Banded Bikers II

Recommended Posts

Cool clynnc! I'm riding up from San Antonio on Friday sometime with friends. I can't leave work until midday. Hopefully we'll be there for the parade or at least to see it in action. Have a safe ride if you come up!

I'm loving the looks of the weather! Let's all keep our rain drenched fingers crossed that it will be nothing but sun and a few clouds.

:peace:

Well, like I told Carol, I'll try not to look to close. I'll cover my eyes but I might peak through my fingers....LOL Carol, we'll talk to you Saturday or when ever. CLynnC, if you come, be careful and keep your knees in the breeze.

Help,

My husband is getting the band - but we have a motorcycle road trip about 4 weeks after the surgery planned - we can not change the trip - due to MotoGP - but we are worried about the road trip & him riding. I had the band last year & was told 4 weeks before riding - he will 3 days short of 4 weeks at the beginning of the trip. Will we be ok? His doctor said he should be ok - but he doesn't ride.

Please help.

Hi Allen and Diane! Welcome aboard! I can't speak to riding that soon since I was grounded for other reasons, but my feeling is that you should be fine. I'm not sure how your doctor has your scheduled back in to eating but you should easily be on some soft solids or solids by then. I think the critical part is making sure you're hydrated and take your vitamins! Physically at four weeks I don't think there's a concern that you'll do any 'damage' to your band. Your port area might be a little soar. Also make sure you have a sort of loose waistband area on your pants. I found if my pants are tight and it's pushing other things around the port area can be a little tender. If your doctor thinks it's okay, then he's the voice to listen to.

Best of luck with the surgery! Keep us informed how you both are doing. It looks like a great trip!

Hey there! Had the best time. Was at the rally on Friday, rode in the parade which was a very cool experience. Really enjoyed Saturday between the rally and the concert. Love the Guess Who and they didn't fail to make me smile and sing along. Met Randy (MyKdsDad) and his wife (MsJoy) and that was really cool to put faces with people you've chatted with. I'm sorry we missed you!!

So my next large adventure is Sturgis so if you're going, tell me...I've yet to find someone to ride along with but I'm going either way.

:peace: we're already planning on camping at ROT next year so I'll make sure everyone has our location so you can come by and hang out.

:)

Anyone out there ride a sport bike? Interested to know if the port is uncomfortable when leaning over the tank? Or if you can even feel it? Thanks!

Well hello fellow bikers, not a bandster yet, but I am working on it. I am scheduled to go into the surgeon on Friday 6/15 to schedule my banding. I have done all prelim testing and have been cleared by PCP for the procedure.

My friends used to say we live to ride and ride to eat, as we were always going out to eat on out scoots. Guess I have to change that motto. See a couple of you are right next door in Tx I am in La here. Hope to see some of you on the road someday.

Congrats to all you rider course participants I used to teach the MSF Rider Course but have been out of it for a couple of years now. I am sure I will see you all around LBT.

Jim

Oh my bike is a 2003 Ultra Classic Peace Officer's Speical Edition

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
