August sleevers progress

How much is everyone eating? I have found I want a few bites more at meal times. I can eat about 5 oz now. I weigh all my food so I know 5 oz fills me up. But a month ago it was 4 oz. Anyone else able to eat more?

Surgery was 8/26/13. HW 291. Day of Surgery 270. Today 209. Total loss of 82lbs including pre-op.

Our starting stats are similar :) I'm 5'6 kinda on the shorter side ha.

My Hw 278

Pre op 260

cw 173

So now I feel better we've lost about the same and have similar other stats and are eating around the same amount! :) hhmmmm I sound kinda stockerish lmao so not my intent :P

Are you tracking your foods? Whats your calorie intake and carbs? Are you doing any actives (working out)?

I'm only 5'5 so I'm right there with ya.

I eat around 1,000cals/day. I don't watch my carbs too much but try to not eat too much bread/rice/potatoes etc. I get at least 60g of Protein and about 60oz of Water a day.

I track my food and exercise on my fitness pal. Username is tarastars1 if you want to add me.

I workout 4-5 times a week doing both cardio and weights.

I find different days I can eat different amounts. Some days I can hold 1/2 cup of food. some days 3/4 c of food. Also different foods make a difference to the amount. Sat. I tried to eat 6 ounces of mahimahi, almost threw up. 4 oz of fish is all I can eat. Yogurt I can eat 6 oz.. My calories are between 700-900 60-70 grams of Protein. I do not count carbs, but drink about 64 ounces a day. Sophiepants, I am 5'6" too down 73 pounds as of tuesday. I do not use MFP. It is too long to use. I keep everything in a journal, which I carry everywhere with me. I like being accountable for what I eat.

That is true about eating different amounts different days. I do feel that I seem I eat a tad more now with out the hurt. I always eat my protein first at each meal. I am a carb freak. lol

You sound like your doing great!

I used to write down my foods in a journal daily when I stared too. I use mfp and it's gotten so much easier.

Sounds like everyone is doing GREAT! I am loving my sleeve. I have been a little disappointed with my weight loss lately...only lost 4 pounds last month and 2 of those pounds have been in the last week!! (yikes). I have been exercising and tracking my intake on MFP like a mad-man lately! This is the first stall I have experienced, so hopefully things will start to change. I am down a total of 83 pounds since my pre-op diet, something that would never have happened with out WLS. This has truly been a life-changing event! I am sooooo glad I finally did this for ME!

Keep up the good work, everyone!

I can definitely get 5 oz. down of ground beef and about 4 oz. of shredded chicken breast. I get so anxious when I read people who are like a year out and only able to get in 2-3 in! Relieved to hear others are in the same boat!

Hi everyone,

Good to hear how y'all are doing.

Things are going well for me. How much I can eat each day varies for me too, but usually around 800 calories. Some days I just don't feel like eating and get in 500-600. Lately I started working out with a trainer and have had a few days where I was actually hungry (nothing like pre-surgery though) and ate 900-1000 calories. I needed to make use of more veggies to fill myself up after I got my Protein in.

I still can only eat half a cup of food at a sitting. Protein: maybe 2-3 ounces, then a couple of bites of veg. I have my 3 meals a day plus a snack midmorning and midafternoon.

Have had some stalls along the way, but never more than a few weeks. Even during stalls I still lost inches.

My biggest problem is eating slowly. That is the worst habit to break and I wasn't even a speed eater to start with.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
