October Sleevers - Who else

Recommended Posts

I have a question - I am scheduled for surgery on Tuesday - I thought we had to begin washing our bellies with a special soap or something a couple nights before. Is this true? Just wondering as my doc didnt provide me anything and wondered if I should head to the store. Any insight is helpful :)

I wasn't asked to do anything special. Just a regular shower before going to hospital.

The night before I have to wash with antibacterial soap like Dial and sleep in clean sheets and PJs (so does my hubby). Then the morning of surgery I have to rub some stuff the doctor gave me all over my belly. Hope that helps!

I think all docs are different. Some insist on a pre op diet, some don't. Some like you to use antibacterial soap, again some don't. It all seems to be down to the doctors preference. But it can't HURT to use an antibacterial soap. Then you're covered! They will swab your belly all over with iodine before they begin surgery in any case... Good luck on operation day :-)

Congrats to you all you!!! Very helpful post! It's good to learn all you're posting for us pre-op's.

I'm schedule for 11/15/13, starting diet 11/1

I have several inquiries

Anyone a diabetic type 2?

High blood pressure?

Are you off all meds after your WLS?

Are you you able to sleep in your side after surgery?

Do they strap you down on the surgery table! I don't like feeling of being pindown or strapped for anything. Freaks me out

I suffer from anxiety/panic attacks, do they give Meds before surgery to help calm nerves down?

Do you think requesting 2 to 3 weeks off work to recover is long enough??? I'm an administrative assistant and sit most of day but have a long commute 1 hour each way

I'm currently of my cholesterol meds and can't imagine I'll go back on after significant weight loss.

Yes you can sleep on your side. If comfortable you can even sleep on your tummy.

I don't know if I was strapped down. I was given something for anxiety in the prep room. Went into the OR and scooted onto the operating table. Next thing I remember is waking up on my way to recovery. I would just ask them not to strap you down until you are out if they do that.

I have slept on my side from day one. I don't have a clue if aI was strapped down or not. They gave me something in the holding room and I don't remember anything after that. I never remember seeing the operating room. I woke up in recovery about 4 hours later.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
