Not at goal one year out

Recommended Posts

On August 28th. I will be a year post op. I haven't lost anything in 4 months!! I am 165 right now. I got down to 158 briefly but then gained weight and can't get the scale to move! I work out and lift 4 times a week and the other 3 days I work but am on my feet for 12 hours at work. I am getting in all my Protein. I find eating meat still difficult. Steak and chicken make me sick a lot of the time. 2 pieces of turkey lunch meat with a little hummus in it fills be up, sometimes to the point of being uncomfortable. I find that since I had my gallbladder out I can't get any weight to come off! My year appointment with my doctor isn't until mid September. I am so upset I am not at goal. I feel so fat still! I know I have lost a ton of weight but its still so disappointing. My start weight was 240 and I wanted to be 135! Any advice? When I get back from vacation I am thinking about doing this shred program that I saw on Dr Oz.

What's your calorie intake? Some of us need to go sub 800 to consistently lose weight.

I feel your pain btw, you seem to be doing so much for so little return. Good luck.

I am at 2 1/2 years and am not at goal yet. I am almost there though, and think I will get there soon. The main losing period is said to be 18 months, so keep up the good work. Some of us are using the 5:2 plan to get off the last pounds, or regain... working pretty good for most of us. Don't give up! This process is a learning experience, finding what works in the long run.

Keep up what your doing and eat healthy. It is more difficult to get the weight off after the 6 month mark. Keep it up.

I did reach goal, but it took me 18 months. Hang in there and don't get discouraged. There is no expiry date on the sleeve and for how long we can lose weight. It just might take a little more work than it did in the beginning.

Make an appointment to see your doc early. This helped to get me back on track. Good luck!

You've lost a ton of weight and are very close to your goal. Hang in there and don't be so hard on yourself.

I just recently (21 months post-op) made my goal weight....so hang in there. Looks like you are exercising a good bit, so perhaps you've added some muscle? That often happens when lifting or exercising a lot and was the case for me as well. If you are putting on muscle, you're still probably losing some fat as well, which will not show up on the scale all that much. But your body composition would be better. The other thing is...what's your BMI? I don't see it listed. Not that I'm a big proponent of those charts, just wondering if you are close to the BMI that is considered "healthy", or do you think you're goal weight may be too low?

Wow we have a lot of the same situations. I was sleeved 8/24/12 and I was 240 I also go to the gym 4 days a week and work 12hr days the other 3 days, I also got off track for a while and I haven't lost anything in about 2-3mths meat is still a struggle for me, I think it fills me to fast. But I am down to 138 which I am very glad about but I want to go down to 130, so now I am doing only Protein and tryin not to munch so much at work, I work midnights

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
