Think I have finally moved from my stall. Just shy of 7 weeks and I am down 42 pounds. Minus 4lbs in the past three days. I also went to my Primary Care Physician yesterday and I have not only said good bye to 42 lbs (the equivalent weight of 5 gallons of milk) but I have now said goodbye to Metformin, Simvastatin and Lotrel. Two of them having been a part of my life for 11 years. I am also walking about five miles per day, climbing about 10 flights of stairs and burning about 3200 calories daily.

I am feeling very good about my decision to sleeve and know I am headed for a better life. Come on summer and come on roller coasters.

Enough about me. I would ask that you keep one of our September sleevers in your thoughts today. She has had her share of struggles since surgery and this morning they are thinking she has developed a leak. She will be tested this morning and if positive surgery to follow.

Good luck friend. 11/12/13.

I'll keep her in my prayers!

We are only a week within each other. You're definitely more active than me. :-). I changed my position at work and I'm far more physical than I had been. It feels great to move and have so much energy. I wish you all you desire for your health. I get tested this week and hope to go off all the meds. Sometimes I wonder if they keep you on for reasons that are not so great. We shall see. :-)

i still dont have regular bms. the doctor said this is normal as long as i dont have any abdominal pain. he said some people it takes a while for everything to return to normal. plus we haven't been eating very much.

I haven't either. It's not fun. I used to be regular. I think all the animal Protein is too much for our intestines. It needs some Fiber. I know if I remember to eat the Gummy fiber I do better.

Yesterday was my 2 month surgery-versary and I am down 45 pounds!!! I need to exercise more but my knees are shot...I went to my ortho doc this past Thursday and he suggests a total knee replacement on my right one...that sounds lovely!!! He has a date open in Dec. but I think it's a little soon for another major surgery, the shots he put in them have kicked in and they are feeling pretty good now so hopefully I can make it a few more months. Hope everyone is feeling and healing good. Does anyone know of a good liquid Multi-Vitamin that they would recommend, my chewable one from opurity tastes like crap! I know Vitamins aren't supposed to taste like candy but I think I would rather take a liquid and get it over with than to have to chew & chew & chew this horse pill I have!!! :D

I will be 7 weeks post op tomorrow and have lost 44 lbs. Animal Protein is really starting to gross me out, but I still choke it down anyway. I don't like eating anymore; it seems like more of a chore than anything.

I had blood work drawn two weeks ago and learned that my total cholesterol has gone from 236 to 148! I was shocked, but super happy!

Tons of good thoughts being sent to our fellow September sleeved. I hope all turns out okay with her....

9 weeks in and I'm down 46 lbs. Very happy! To SDH, I couldn't stand the chewable vitamins either. My doctor told me I could take the gummy vitamins and I'm tolerating them fine. The only exercise I've been doing is physical therapy 3 times a week for my torn meniscus. Still a work out as I leave in a sweat! It is so much better now and recently went back to playing tennis once a week. I'm also about to start a one month gym membership that was gifted to me. I hope the weight continues to come off quickly. The first few weeks was quite a shock to see 23 lbs in just 2 weeks. Has slowed down since I'm on full diet now, but I think once I kick up the exercise that will change. Hoping to be down 50 lbs by thanksgiving, and 60-65 by Christmas!

I'm gonna try those Gummy vitamins...if these hadn't cost so much I would trash them!

So glad everyone is posting.. I thought I wasn't losing a lot. I lost fast the first 2 weeks then the past 2 weeks I was pretty much in a stall. I just lost another 2lbs the other day so I'm down a total of 42lbs since the beginning.

What is everyone eating? I feel uncomfortable when I eat chicken... tuna and my tummy don't agree. I eat a lot of shrimp.. I was eating sushi but I don't think the brown rice was aiding the weight loss.....

I thought I wasn't losing fast enough for a while till my husband went and got 2-20 pound weights from the weight bench and sat them in my lap! 40 pounds is heavy!!! That was 5 pounds ago! chicken, seafood, and turkey are on my menu most days, and I usually drink a Protein Shake everyday just to make sure I get enough in. I guess the next thing I need to work on is eating more veggies...

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I can eat just about everything, although haven't tried steak yet. I'm at 12 weeks tomorrow and also was in a stall for a few weeks there, but am now down 50 lbs as of yesterday! So happy:) A long way to go but I feel good. I am no where near getting in enough fluids and if I can bump it up I know that will help the weight loss.

Surgery 9/28 and down 49 lbs. I'm happy and feel better than I have in years. I wish my feet and boobs would stop shrinking and my waistline would be shrinking at the same rate at least. Lol. All in all though....I'm happy with my decision to have the sleeve done.

Shrimp is great with so many different spices. I focus on protein intake. I found some great recipes I can make ahead and freeze. I'm making mini enchiladas in cupcake tins this weekend. :-). I did eggs with different veggies and meats in cup cake tins. I heat them up and off I go.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
